Day 0 complete! We've got our rough concept all fleshed out, and will be working out the puzzles, art, and engine in detail tomorrow. Here's a quick synopsis of what we're shooting for. Not sure if we can do everything we want to do with this, but we'll give it a shot:

LD27 Theme:
10 Seconds

Overview:
The game is a Puzzle RPG set aboard an Orbital Research Station which, over the next 10 Seconds, will be destroyed. Luckily, the player (a Space Janitor) has somehow become unstuck in time by the event, and can use this power to try to prevent it! If, of course, they can figure out what exactly went wrong. A lot can happen in 10 Seconds!

Gameplay:
The specifics of the puzzles, and the story itself, will remain secret for now. Generally speaking, though, gameplay takes place in two phases. The first is a slow-paced exploration/puzzle-solving mode, where the player becomes unstuck in time, with events around them frozen at the start of the event. They can move freely, investigate the ship as it existed in that moment, interact with objects, and set up events Rube-Goldberg style, to try to prevent the disaster.

The second phase is fully automated, as the player flees toward the escape pods over the course of 10 seconds, witnessing the events they've tweaked taking place as they run across the ship. Time gradually slows down as they run, until it finally stops. They then rewind, and return to the Frozen-Time phase at the start of the event, where they can try to solve the problem once again. This repeats until they've solved the mystery of the Temporal Anomaly, and prevented the destruction of the station!

For some reason I imagine the janitor to look like an SS13 Janitor

In other words, great concept, can't wait to see it in action

Due to the concept and what Iceblaster said, I'm now I'm imagining the SS13 janitor as portrayed by Bill Murray.

Yeah, it's basically Groundhogs Day meets Star Trek.

Sorry, we had a number of game-breaking bugs to iron out during Submission Hour, and then everyone practically fell asleep at their desks. Some of us have been working on this for close to 2 days straight. :I

Hoping to release a slightly more polished Post-Competition Version after we've all had some rest. We didn't have enough time to implement Glass Shards and Particle Physics, and some of the gameplay features and log entries need a bit of refining. On the other hand, Hitch managed to pull out some serious Javamancy, and managed a Time-Dialation effect we were struggling over for most of Day 2, such that the game can now un-explode explosions, reverse sound effects, etc.

Check it out if you like. I'm off to get some hardcore Snooze-Time in.

Found it and could play 2 minutes just before going to work. It seems beautiful and fun, and I like the robot's way of thinking :p

That's... actually really fun. I really loved the idea of using the same pipe puzzles two, three, or four times with different solutions to get different effects as well as solving all of the mini-puzzles along the way to keep progressing. I'm not entirely sure how time stabilizer thing + bright white flashing light solves the problem of everything going to crap, but sure, why not?

Does anyone know how Ludem Dare voting works? I tried to figure it out a bit, but got a little confused. Can we vote? Or is it only the submitters?

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

The consoles and events were supposed to help tell this story, but we were really short on time (hur hur?) and unable to implement everything we wanted to. Hoping to do an Extended Cut which conveys this information a bit better, and fixes some mechanical problems.

Also, only participants can vote on other games. I'm really glad you enjoyed it though!

That was quite a fun game, all things considered, though it was a little bit irritating to have to wait long periods of time so often.
