I've been meaning to watch Cowboy Broiled forever. Awesome stuffs. Firefly is always good as well of course. As pong as we aren't including that awful, awful movie (hint: the correct response to this is "what movie?" ;) ).

Posting a quick reminder that we'll be kicking off the show tomorrow, 11/3/12, at 9am PST, 12 Noon EST, or 4pm GMT depending on your timezone.

Yeah, can't say I agree with you on the Firefly movie... though of course I'd have preferred a more understated, slow-paced second, third, and maybe fourth season of the show to cover the same plot instead. The movie fit a lot in it, and ended up being a lot more fast-paced and actiony than the show was, but I still thought it was good.

At least a little better than your spelling... Cowboy Broiled indeed. :3

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

It's the damned phone autocorrect function, it's too damned good at guessing what words I want so sometimes I just forget that it can't possibly know some words I want to write... Like my name, for example. It's changed it before too "Charles von Potatoes" in important mails I've happened to have been writing on the phone... Embarrasing.

Anyway, the reasons I dislike the movie is basically that's it failed at everything that made the series good. Stupid plot, cartoonishly evil villains, extremely anvilicious message, no western atmosphere (It was there for what, five minutes after the introduction of the crew?), it had lost much of the inter-character feeling, and it either didn't tie up the loose threads from the series or came up with stupid answers (Seriously, the reavers. Need I say more?). So yeah, I was very disappointed in it.

Of course, as always, those are just my opinions. It's not like I have to be there when you show it ;)
Or, I could join you and bitterly point out every thing in it I dislike and eternally cement myself as That Guy.

Huzzah! First a good lunch and a neuroscience lecture from my uncle, then Firefly and Cowboy Bebop!

That sounds like a much better day than I have planned. At least I'll have solistream to distract me from constant science on a weekend!

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

My criteria for watching have now narrowed, thanks to a 1-shot D&D game starting at 11 Eastern in meatspace... Now I need to show up too late for that but in time for the stream.

Can I just say that the name "Charles von Potatoes" is cracking me up right now? I am laughing uncontrollably as I try to type this. That is amazing.

A bit, I guess. Though I'm not sure you aren't sarcasming at me ;)

Also, after my nerd-irritativenes has subside, I promise I will try to not bring any more undue negativity to the thread. That was unecessary.

Also, yeah, "undue" in case you decide to start showing Nazi propaganda movies, because that would not be cool and there would have to be much, much negativity.

It's all good, Scriver. Unless I'm underestimating the pure unbridled rage you have suppressed behind your words, I didn't see your criticism of Serenity as undue negativity. And no, I was literally unable to stop myself from laughing about that name. Makes me want to see if my name autocompletes into anything awesome now.

I don't know, I found Triumph of the Will to be somewhat interesting to watch, it's a bit less offensive to watch than you'd think (it being the subtle kind of propaganda, rather than the in your face kind), though it does get a bit boring. It even scored 94% among critics on Rotten Tomatoes. I might do a commentary on it some day, I think it has a bit to teach people (and no I'm not endorsing the Nazi's, they were huge scumbags).

Anyway, I just popped in here to say that while I probably won't be around most of tomorrow on account of some horror festival thing, I'll probably come by sometime in the evening.
