So, if you download the Brickforce-America version can you still play with EU version People?

Only if you get onto the EU servers, in the installation, it basically gives you a choice of which server you want.

Heyo folks. Frivoliteers? Why not!

First order o' business: MolyJam 2012, a worldwide game jam based on the parody tweets of petermolydeux, produced some relatively fantastic and relatively hillaribad games. Both can be fun. I wanted to demo some of the highlights from the jam this evening, about 3-4 hours from now. They look pretty great so far.

Second order o' business: I'm putting together a Hunger Games themed Minecraft map (if you're not familiar, have a movie trailer) and need to populate the playing field with special terrain, denser woods, ruined structures, and so on for hiding loot in. If any of you guys feel like a spot of creative-mode building, and would be interested in helping out, let me know! The sooner it's done, the sooner we can run it (and I know that there has been an attempt to run one, but mods borked it by overzealously spawning items/mobs. I'm taking measures to prevent that from happening). If folks would like to help out, we'd need a server on which to host the map-in-progress, of course.

It wasn't the mods, it was that we used the mods in the first place without usable permissions, so had to op people to see one thing. I'd say either Use no mods Soli (for the playing, not the building), or make sure a permissions (PermsEX for example) works before using mods. As long as its less of a clusterfuck than before, I'll host it again soli if I can.

I didn't have any mods planned. Just using vanilla Minecraft mechanics, with the Cornucopia being refilled manually each dawn. The only mod I was hoping for was one to allow the moderators to be invisible to players, so they could fly around and observe without influencing the contestants... but even that isn't necessary. If there was something to make every block but soil and wood unbreakable, that would also be nice too, but that can always be handled by self-imposed rules.

That worked exactly none times when we tried using it during MC beta 1.8 bukkit. It might work now, who knows, but I wouldn't count on that.
And you could probably set up worldguard to do that Soli, but WG is silly huge and probably not worth the trouble to set up.
