   I don't know what type of windows 7 I have but it runs civ4 and such fine with no help from me. It may be important though to note that I am using a torrented version because my Civ4 cd's where reduced to a non-working condition when I moved from PA to MI.
Do you get actual errors when you try to run the game or does it just crash?

What is UAC?

And yes - the error is a failure to load XML files when it is running start-up in the mini splash. I dont remember exactly the error - I guess I could reinstall it and check...

   No need to do that, I was just wanted to know if there was an error. If the game just crashed then your chances of finding some way to work around the problem would have been almost non-existent.

User Account Control. A good idea in general, but it borks some programs and is generally irritating if you know what you're doing with a computer. (i.e. not clicking every ad for free smileys and such and knowing how to install things you want without getting toolbar and junk also installed because you didn't pay attention) THe Win7 version is better than Vista's but I wouldn't call it helpful myself. Its disablable and thats the first thing I did on here. Might not be the problem, but having less possibilities is a good idea for trying to fix things.

Sorry for the double post Soli, but I found something interesting related to MoM and the Aristrakh. Apparently, since the guy whose done most of the modwork has been taking a break, the guy who made said race of vampire necromancers updated it in modmod to the modmod form. (A temporary mod to the mod that is MoM, which was something else before, which is a mod of FFH2). Here it is, if you want to see it. They certainly play more interestingly with it. Theres probably a chance it messes with MP a bit if others don't have it, since it edits a couple python files.

   I had noticed the vampire thing but I did not realize that it was made by the person who did the vampire guys in the first place.

Here are the mods. You do need CivIV and Beyond the Sword installed.

Master of Mana: http://wildmana.hengames.de/MoM1.3.exe
MoM 1.42 Patch: http://wildmana.hengames.de/Master%20of%20Mana%201.42.exe

Also, make sure your Beyond the Sword is updated to BtS 3.19, the latest patch, first. Also, Hamachii might be a necessity, which you can get here (you want Unmanaged Mode).
