Because nobody has brought it up here yet: Shining the Holy Ark was awesome and we want to see more of it.
Very well then, this is definitely a thing we can do!

One of the rare RPGs in the Shining series, "Shining - The Holy Ark" was developed for the Sega Saturn in the late 90s by the team that went on to make Golden Sun, with a score by none other than Japan's great Motoi Sakuraba. Easily among my favorite RPGs of all time, very difficult to find, and even harder to actually -play- with the scarcity of working Sega Saturns (*cough* and the lack of any good Saturn emulators *cough*). Anyone who digs jRPGs should totally tune in, and check this title out with me!

EDIT: Not right now, of course... but definitely over the next few Livestreams!

Seeing as how it is now "tomorrow" here, looks like the answer is no!

But I will be getting it started sometime this week; either this weekend, or some weeknight I have open.

I have actually gotten that game working reasonably well on an emulator. Unfortunately, that was a format or two ago, so I don't remember which emulator I was using, but it was half in korean or something.

Also I got stuck in EggplantAubergine manor.

I think I know the Emulator you're talking about... it's called SSF. Last I heard, it's still got some incompatibility issues, and the site was tough to navigate (being entirely in Japanese), but it's probably the best Saturn Emulator I've seen out there.

Anyway, with Shining - The Holy Ark, I'm going to be kicking off a series of LPs I'm tentatively calling "Retro Gems", which I'm hoping to publish as a series online. I'll be demoing various games, and doing my usual bit analyzing what makes them good or innovative. Long story short, you guys are going to have to be on your best behavior for these streams!

I spent some time this morning playing with graphics and such, and put together a basic splash screen/intro video for the LP, which curious folks can preview here. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out! If nothing else, this Livestream has provided me with some good audio/video editing practice over the last year or so... so thanks to all of you for helping me find that motivation!

If you plan to save the video and then upload elsewhere, then stream is perhaps not the best option for you, since if you pay attention to the chat and respond to us, the video will have "o_O?" moments when watched later and on the other hand, if you ignore the chat why go through the trouble of streaming? That said I'll watch anything you do if I find out it's going on in time :b

Judging by past recordings I think he does a pretty good job of not leaving future viewers out of things. I've only watched two or three streams live and the rest have been recordings and I haven't felt like I missed a joke or anything. He tends to explain things well like a normal LPer pretty naturally, too.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Well... if the chat was in the recording window...

but that would look silly. :P

Also, want moar Minecraft livestreaming. I've been having an idea for a space-station-based server, ideally with Technic MP and Planes (and perhaps another mod so that we can have big doors, Dawn of the Modern World maybe? I just found it on the forums, and it also has Rways and useful little halogen lights, so it might be good to try out if it works in MP), that I sadly cannot execute because I can't run a server and I can't find any servers with those mods and I don't feel like trying that hard. :P

Anyway, re: Saturn emulators, check out Yabause and Satourne. Those and SSF are the ones I've got stuck in the saturn folder I haven't deleted, so one of them probably functions :P

E:S-tHA confirmed working with latest SSF I've got (11 alpha 12 or something like that).

MC adventures are always pretty fun. Aklyon and Hitchiker both have access to Minecraft servers, and we might be able to set something up with them. I generally prefer structured games (some kind of game goal, etc.) but it can be fun to mess around sandbox style too.

Anyway, if you can come up with a proposal, we could probably run it past one of them, and get together for some MP Minecraft Shenanigans some time soon.

I might be somewhat bored of running a minecraft thing in general, but adventure maps are always fun to watch, and the only thing thats gotten worse about my computer is the battery (again).

If you don't mind getting all of that together Twi (the mods that work in SMP that is, I can get the serverside modloader/modloadermp files easily enough), I'll get it set up.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I already sort of ran it past Aklyon and he was like "But I don't wanna do Minecraft!" XP

Anyways, this is the mod I spoke of, Dawn of the Modern World. It has Rways (runways or roadways), Halogen Lights, and big garage doors. The latter are the main reason I want it. So we can have hanger doors without burying the map in redstone. And it does appear to have SMP support.

For extra futuristic touches, we could try the Laser Mod and/or PlasmaCraft. They're optional, though. One has to balance cool stuff and accessibility/workability :P If you had to pick one, I'd pick the latter, since it clearly has more stuff.

The MOST important ones are...well,THE most important is technic pack (Which I am having trouble finding the topic for... D:), for that nuclear reactor goodness. (As it turns out, said nuclear reactors are in IndustrialCraft. I saw a IC/Buildcraft mod while I was browsing,so we could just use that. Among other things, you can make oil from UU-matter with it. HUZZAH!. On a related note, Equivalent Exchange apparently works in SMP now, HUZZAH! Albeit with... issues.) After that, I'd say Planes. I'm pretty sure they both work in MP, though Technic Pack may require the loss of a few things, as we discovered when Aklyon tried to get a Technic server up.

EDIT: Here, have a list in descending order of importance. Yeah, I know, it's not what I said up there. I didn't realize just how much stuff PlasmaCraft has. XD

IC/Buildcraft mod -->  PlasmaCraft ---> Planes ->Dawn of the Modern World ---->Equivalent Exchange ------> Laser Mod

EDIT EDIT: Yet more mods.

Smart moving, for vents and climbing and etc. Pretty cool and allows for some nice stuff, but isn't THAT vital, or shouldn't be.

Insert mod for SPACE! when I find one here.

Nya.

Technic pack has its own website, Twi. And you'd need to know how the new fancy launcher affects combining it with other things.

Point of contention: Mod compatibility/possibility between this whole bunch. MC still has a limit to how many item ids you can have, I think.

The loss of some stuffs before was mostly because it made it easier to keep the server running as well as the less modded bukkit one at the same time. TechnicMP by its self shouldn't have a problem, unless it needs more RAM, which it shouldn't.

Forge adds enough item IDs for them to not be an issue. Block IDs would be problematic with that many mods though, until 1.2 at least.
