Huh. I take it you stop receiving merchants from the dorfs. Do you still get noble positions?

Who needs noble positions, anyway?

By the way, how does a loyalty cascade works? I haven't found anything on the wiki  :(

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.

A loyalty cascade works by having a civilized creature kill a member or animal of their own civilization. When this occurs, the killer is marked as an enemy of their parent civ, and the rest of the civ is hostile to that member. When someone inevitably kills him, the cycle continues, and if you have a lot of miners or woodcutters, your fort undergoes dwarven and cranial fission.

If I drop someone down a pit (the hostile in question) will it count as an accident (like in hitman? :P) or will the dwarf that dragged the hostile to the pit be marked as a hostile?

Thankfully, environmental deaths (such as magma, water, gravity) are beyond reproach.

Give the sucker some flying lessons.

Burning and raping the land is recreational. Where business is concerned, though, sustainability is the name of the game.

What gods are in your civilization's pantheon?

You could train your military to reflect the various deities. This probably wouldn't increase their chances of surviving (well, it'd probably decrease them drastically), but would pass the time.

God of Suicide? Naked, axe-wielding berzerkers that are the first to charge into any battle.
God of Death? Bone armor, of course. Picks can substitute for scythes.
God of Metal? Steel, steel, and more steel.
God of Trade? These dwarves can only use items purchased from caravans.
God of Torture? Whips and leather armor.

I have a god of battle and fortification... so they kind of already live up to that. Though the dwarves think it's amusing to carve his images in peaceful scenes or on crutches. He is always screaming in these.

If I have a god of metal I would think I'd have to make leather clothing and armor, and steel instruments.
