Embark on the moon.

He likes scorching environments. Embark on the sun.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

How did you know I like scorching environments?! Oh, right...

You just... Can't get away from them!
If you're desperate, just remove them from the raws.

I'm in a scorching desert, WHY IS THERE AN AQUIFER?
Because it's possible in real life.
The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) is the world’s largest known fossil water aquifer system. It is located underground in the Eastern end of the Sahara Desert and spans the political boundaries of four countries in north-eastern Africa.
Most land areas on Earth have some form of aquifer underlying them, sometimes at significant depths.

How am I supposed to get around it?! Hm?
Try these methods.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Aquifers are one of the many reason why most mines in real life are in mountainous regions where the minerals are exposed above the water-table.  If you need a guaranteed way of getting through aquifers of any depth, follow the link in my sig.

The one on page two of that thread, with the single pump and stuff, is hard to follow.  The writer didn't seem to know how to explain it very well.

I understood it ok, but then I've done similar things before.  The order that you dig-and-wall the soil is important, since too much open area results in too much water sloshing about and cancelling your construction projects, but he doesn't describe how one should go about doing that, just that you should "end up with walls like so".  I'll see if I can come up with a more elegant solution.  I think it will involve doors.

Of course if the aquifers are only 1 or 2 deep you can get through via a very Dwarfy deliberate cavein in order to drop precarved Dams of natural stone/soil,  doesn't even require any stone provided you have wood and like taking risks.

Why couldn't my vampire Hammerer eat someone useless, like a migrant? Instead, she went after my only gemcutter.. but sadly there were no witnesses, so I convicted someone's pet duck as the murderer.  It got off easy, with no beatings or jail time.  >.<

It always baffles me when people try to avoid aquifers. Yes, we all avoided them like the plague when we first began, but when you learn how to dig through them they become an invaluable tool - an infinite source of water that never dries up.

I don't like 'em because they make my entrances look ugly.

No, no. You're not using them right. They should be part of the entrance. Wall them off with flood gates. Then when you need to close the entrance from a siege, you close floor hatches, and open the flood gates. The Aquifer fills over the entrance, and the siege can't get in. When it's over, you shut the flood gates, open the hatches, after closing the flood gates in your entry way, by the way, and then have pumps drain the entry. Now you're dry and goblin/kobold/treehugger free.

So, you flood over your entrance during a siege, instead of using walls?  Just make sure you've got stone hatches, or you'll get giant-toaded...
