There is the Dread Necromancer class. It's from heroes of horror.

Or Evil Clerics and Necromancy Wizards/Sorcerers. Which are in the Player's Handbook.

I'm pretty sure Valinite is broken. A DC 18 save-or-lose on every hit? For 800 gold? Yes please.

How much money do we get for equipment?
My Caracter so far:

Weekends would be great, as are weekdays after about 5:00, though I may have things that I will be doing with my family, I'll tell you guys if I have to not be here.

You get 80 gp for equipment

Note: No more than two dread necromancers please.

I guess I'll retract my backing off.

I'm thinking about making a ranger from the far north who's moved south (To Amaranthia maybe, or wherever the campaign begins) due to the troubles in the north.  What kind of monsters are up there?  I'm trying to decide on my favored enemy.
