Okay, to clarify, I play Democracy on myself (for the possible points). I target its affect on Magma.

Consider this: If it gets voted down, the magma card will go back into warhammer's hand, and he'll still have that giant bomb to play. I'd say it's best to just get it out of the way now.

Yep, but on the other hand, it's a bomb that backfires, and it levels the playing field. I'd rather see it late game.

uhhh... seeing how the card explicitly affects the points TOTAL (which, as stated in the rules is floating points+ points of the cards in front of them) I'd say no

and why make it so complicated? just have the player's scores be equal to the totals of the cards they played

No, no, I mean like this:

Player has 1000 points of cards.

something reduces their score by half, so -500 points are added to their floating point pool.

This leaves them with 500 points total.

Also, ExKirby still needs to choose which Orchids he's destroying.

Copycat does say it becomes an EXACT copy.

Look, this is getting ridiculous. If the Banhammer was for the Copycat, then the Magma wouldn't have been played on someone with 0 points, and the Democracy wouldn't have been played on the Magma, and we'd be in a totally parallel universe.

I'm leaving for a party right now, so here goes:

If ExKirby votes "yes", he'll be my second target for the magma, warhammer being the first target (well, he did cast it on me). If he votes "no", magma is irrelevant for now and we continue.
After this is resolved, I play Mechanism on the Guard dog, and I make a cagetrap and capture it for the points:
