Sorry, that was something I didn't know how to finish without appearing to be callous, uncaring or the like.  And I obviously went back to the main run of text and forgot to either get it right or remove it altogether.  My only excuse is that it was a late night last night.

Basically if there are people from the vicinity of the plant that need rehousing, and are desperate enough, then there's arguably various packets of land available once a full tally of survivors and victims and missing-presumed-dead reveals 'gaps' in the land-ownership map.

But I don't like how that looks in either writing or in my head.  And I'm no expert on Japanese property/inheritance law, especially what happens in the case of the probably many intestate victims with no discoverable surviving relatives, anyway...  I'd rather not presume, to be honest, but I thought I better explain where that truncated footnote was heading, if it wasn't already terribly obvious.

As I mentioned earlier, there is most likely no shortage of empty housing available in Japan. They went through a housing market crash 2 to 4 times worse than the one that threw the US into our worst financial crisis since the great depression.

Supposedly they are being retooled or refitted so they will pump water, not concrete.  Looks like it's not going to be entombed just yet.

This source has a map with the area. It's a bit vague about the magnitude, sometimes referring to it as 7.1 and sometimes as 7.4.

There was a bit of a scare about whether there would be another tsunami, but according to the second source, the tsunami warning has been cancelled, so presumeably there isn't one.

The fukushima reactors are still in the dangerous zone, though.

If you're wonder why you never heard about the Fukushima plant being stabilized, and Japan just slipping off the news, that's because it wasn't.  Breaking this hour: The Japan government has officially declared the Fukushima meltdown on par with Chernobyl, and containment is still not possible.

I don't know, my state's on the east coast and our rain's been a tad radioactive lately. Not enough to hurt any body but if that's any indication I can't imagine how Japan is.
