The mainland probably wouldn't get much, but looking at a quick glance of my map, the Kuril islands could very well be fucked.

Al-jazeera (live webfeed), the only news channel that doesn't give a shit about celebrities (yet), is showing some amazing and horrifying live feeds from around Japan. There's something like a slow mud-wave just rolling across farmland up north, carrying boats and burning houses with it.

EDIT: Japanese prime minister know how to reassure scared populace: "No radioactive leaks reported from scrammed nuclear power plants so far.

Here's a live feed from NHK world, which seems to be where al-jaz gets its live pictures.

It's been around for a while. I heard about it years ago when it was "a new feed for those durned terrorists!" (quoting a, thankfully former, coworker there)

I'm concerned for New Zealand as well. Won't this hit them? And do they really need any more natural disasters? (also, why is my spellcheck flagging Zealand?)

There are many issues with this statement.

Oil refinery up north is burning like hell. Japanese cameraman does his best to make the shot as apocalyptic as possible.

I had a friend in Japan, thankfully he's okay. Power is out where he is though in Morioka.

8 confirmed dead so far. I think that's going to be a long way away from what it turns out to be, looking at these pictures.

Haven't contacted my brother yet but the area he's in shouldn't have been hit too hard.
