Elf Baby?
« on: March 10, 2011, 09:46:45 am »

I've had some elves caged up for several years.  I was looking to string an animal on a chain to bait my GCS, and noticed I was out of tame critters.  Then I noticed that I have an elven baby at the bottom of my list.

Have I finally started to breed prisoners?

I don't know about breeding animals in cages. If so is true, then yes! Put'em in different cages and sell them!

Sadly she isn't "Friendly" to me, like other fort-born creatures.  Ah well, I can still start an Elf Leather industry, right?

Elf Leather for Quivers
Elf Bones for Crossbow Bolts
Elf Organs for Rations
Elf Fat for Soap(to clean the wounds)

Apply elves to the military as an assalt of irony against invading elves!

Oh shit!  On a whim, I decided to add [PET] to elves.  When they were still untamable, I fluffed that off.

The baby can be tamed.

Add the tag dogs have so they may be trained for war/hunting(I think its the [TRAINABLE] or [CAN_LEARN]...can't remember. I'm still at work, can't check the raws). Nothing better to detect ambushers than a chained, angry, grooling War Elf Baby.

I will add [TRAINABLE] when it proves convenient.  I'm kinda in the middle of a pump stack right now.

It may have been!  I recently moved my elf swordman stockpile into one cage, and I assume that a female got spored during the 5 tile move from a wooden cage into the color-coded copper cage.

I'm looking forward to the day I'm able to pit my War Elves vs Ambushing Elves.  Except mine will be danger room chicken hatchery trained.  Pitted along with breeding chickens, they'll be constantly pecked, and get their combat skills up the old fashioned way.  Cock fights.

It is the [TRAINABLE] tag. I tried adding it to dwarves in my current for, but unfortunately my hunting peasant can't have labors assigned (they will do jobs they were assigned before being trained, and can still gain skills), and they can't be assigned to the military. Also, you can only train peasants (not dwarves with professions). He is currently the pet of my militia captain.

A listed elf showed up pregnant; it's that simple.

These elves have been in captivity for like 8 years.  Trust me, she didn't show up pregnant.

If you put an (adult) elf on a chain, can it get itself free?
