Changes you would like to see to the Bay 12 fourms
« on: March 10, 2011, 05:31:04 am »

Hey lets have a pleasant thread discussing nice changes the forums could go through.

I think life advise should have a computer sub-forum.
Why?
A good number of threads are tech issues and if that is the way the forum is gonna work we may as well embrace it.

I think the forums are pretty good as they are.

I think having more active moderatorship wouldn't hurt. Something to free time from Toady & Co.

Within the current scale, I think they function well. If anything, maybe some are a little too slow and should be concatenated, but post rates vary through the day, and Australians often only see slow hour.

We did have the problem with the spam bots,
IDk a mod who could lock threads for a couple of hours would not hurt

I think Toady and Threetoe like not having to be responsible for the actions of any mods, so they do the job themselves. Once they have people acting of there behalf, enforcing a code of conduct they set out, things start to get complicated, and this could end up taking more time then it saves.

We don't need anymore mods, toady and threetoe can handle whatever reports you send. It'll be slow, but action will be taken as soon as possible. Getting rid of spambots any faster won't improve the quality of the forums that much.

It's a minor thing, but other forums have support for using LATEX, which I would like.

I would like a function which makes bacon come out of my computer.

On a more serious note, less spambots.

Didn't we have a thread just like this a while ago that just ended horribly?

Anyway, I think Life advice should just be renamed "Help and Advice" or something. It's used for tech support more often than actual life advice now.

I support renaming it "Computer Help and Relationship Advice" :P

But computers are a part of peoples lives they sometimes need advice on. True Story.

Other than that... hmm...

No, I like it the way it is for the most part. At least no improvements jump to mind. Maybe more activity in certain subforums.

Let users change their name at will like the old forum.

That's it.

Ban everyone whose nicknames start with a vowel.
