Yes, "liberals" are rightwingers over here.

I'd be interested to hear what you call the leftwingers then.

As to the Swedish thing, I'd be happy to read it.  But I'd suggest taking your own thread for it.  Not that we don't have enough of them already, but you might as well have your hand on it.

Anyway, I've been meaning to link up the specifics of the park thing.  It's just kinda daunting.  And it's gotten worse in the last couple days.  Long story short, pregnant teenagers being dragged out of their school by police so it can be closed down for not being profitable, on the orders of another Emergency Financial Manager.

We call them socialists (or many things derided there from), lefters, reds and stuff of course. Probably there is a word more fitting as a direct equivalent of how you use "liberal", but I can't think off it now. I'll have to think about it and return.

To be honest, though, I'm kinda scared of naming my topic. No doubt it'll end up being something pretto or silly, and everyone will collectively go "lolsocialists" on me...
But yeah, it might go better in it's own thread. At least now I won't try to take advantage of yours.

This is what happens when a representative government decides it doesn't feel like representing you anymore.

Wow, it didn't take long at all to hit dystopian fiction levels here, did it?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I found this part particularly interesting:

Quote
CFA achieves a 90 percent graduation rate and 100 percent of those who graduate are accepted at two- or four-year colleges, most with financial aid. The school provides pre-natal and parenting classes and offers high school student mothers the opportunity to finish their high school education immediately after giving birth by providing on-site daycare, early childhood development services and pre-school for their children. It offers on-site medical, dental and social services, so the young women don’t have to miss school to attend appointments.

CFA has received international attention, numerous awards and is the subject of several documentaries.

Herp derp no profit therefore no value.

Now, how would one go about getting a law declared unconstitutional? Because this has gotta be breaking some guaranteed rights or something.

I've talked to several people I know who hold conservative views, including my father, and they seem to have no problem with this law at all. . I just don't understand.

Its easy. People who call themselves conservative spent a shit load of money to ensure that people who think themselves conservative remain brainwashed and support anything the big money spenders spend money on.

Ask them if they have actually dread the law in full from the state government website. Ask them to describe what they think it means, then tell them how it is. Answer questions. If they don't like the answers to the questions, ask them why they don't agree with that answer. It is a slow process changing ideas, though.

Then put on a robe and a Guy Fawkes mask and shout, "Remember, remember, the fifth of November!" all around the streets.

Haha, I live in OK, too. The thing is... it's Oklahoma. So no matter what they have going on, we are still in a pretty bad position :-P

Depends where you live I think, it's not so bad near cities. Norman (Where I live), Tulsa, Edmond, etc. aren't bad at all... but these goddamn alcohol laws. Who drinks 3-point beer?

Also,

There was an Oklahoma state senator who was called "too liberal" for wanting to focus on the budget rather than abortion and immigration. Man, what?

I know right?  We should all ignore the real issue and look at more 'important' things.
