It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Obama keep waging his war against transparency within the government. Well frankly, Aqizzar, I don't know why you even bother anymore. Palin/Obama are two face of the same system (of a down).

You wanna know why I do it?  You want to know what keeps me waking up day in and day out, mashing that doorstep and stamping that touchscreen?  I'll tell you what.

Because at the end of the day, American democracy sucks, but it still provides the best framework for progress? That's usually my conclusion to my moral problem of supporting the flawed institutions that I support. Of course, I also believe that I'm subject to damnation because of it, so it might not be the best argument.

Nice pirouette, but you should just admit it : reforming the system by voting democrats is impossible ; just like reforming Belgium by voting socialists, or green. Everybody has done that here, they had an overwhelming majority, and for what?

We need a government where the citizen is at the center of the law. We need autodetermination, we need direct democracy on more matter, and we need more responsibility resting on the shoulders of those who take decision. You won't have any of that by voting Obama.

Direct democracy is so inefficient that it hardly matters, plus there's the fact that the average person is an uninformed idiot when it comes to a lot of stuff. You or Aqizzar might do the needed research in every great issue of the day, but even someone like me doesn't have the motivation necessary to go beyond "it'll probably end up requiring blood and iron."

Nice pirouette, but you should just admit it...

I admit nothing, because I'm a technocrat; I recognize the resilience of systems in place, and I banged my head against a brick wall enough to know it's not coming down that way.  You can say what you want and need as much as you like, and that won't make it so.  Real change comes from within, after it formulates from without.  You can say I'm a slave to a corrupt system if you want, but it's the only system in town, so I take what I can.

The honest response to why I bother, is because I have to.  I can't not bother, it's just not an option.  And you always have to keep trying.  I just choose to try via pathways that I believe have a reasonable chance of getting somewhere, however it might blow up and deflate along the way, instead of ideas that I know for a fact won't go anywhere on their own.

This also doesn't have a whole lot to do with the whole State-Governments-Doing-Appalling-Things aspect of this thread.  I think you were looking for that thread about PJ Crowley being fired.  It's been a rough couple of weeks for everyone in the world.

Ever wonder why that oath is to defend the Constitution, not the government or even the nation, BTW?

Strife26 looks down at his XSAPI Plates, rated to stop 7.62 rounds.
Strife26 engages Angel of Death with Gilead, a M4 assault rifle, firing aimed double shot.
Angel of Death is hit twice, center mass!
Angel of Death looks pale!
Angel of Death gives into pain.
Strife26: "Medic!"

You'll note that I'm fine with the Aqizzar-esque attempts to change the system from within, just not the LCS attempts at highly violent, self-defeating change.
