The US of A, now 49 states with a financial semi-feudalism-ish area near Canada.

Best case scenario involves society breaking down, and things going back to the dark ages, so people can enjoy a new level of role playing! Or coarse the jump from low level peasant to mighty knight is a little harder then some might think.

Wow, so michigan is now basically soviet russia. It's really disheartening how both parties in the US can agree and vote for this. I live in indiana and while michigan truly is a hellhole, this doesn't change anything but give select friends of the governor/government power over the entire state.

Edited because I failed at spelling.

I can only hope the people of Michigan won't tolerate this.

Dammit. You just forfitted your right to breath.

Also, leave Michigan before before it is declared that you can't leave the state, because it would 'harm the financial recovery'.

Yeah, gonna have to take issue with you there.  The bill passed both chambers by effectively straight party line votes.  The Republicans happen to have 60%+ majorities in both chambers.

Supposedly, and I don't have the source on this, the Senate Democrats introduced an amendment that the "person" appointed an Emergency Manager could not have a higher salary than the Governor.  Presumably as a measure to keep cronyism out of the process, and demonstrate that if the whole point is to save the government money, then surely what the guy is being paid should be important (although it would have no effect on any money made outside of the appointment).  It failed.

Wow. I think this is the first thing I have seen political wise that has actually shocked me and forced me to say that it is straight up wrong.

I don’t even have a comment that I find funny but no one else does.

And while Republicans take the USA closer and closer to true Facism, we have people trying to tone down the "hyperbole" from the liberal side of politics.

I can't wait until we see the spin doctors come out trying to make this Michigan legislation appear reasonable.

I too want to see how much bullshit will be used as an adhesive to get it to stick to the people.

A pillar of successful fledgling governments is the ability to resist change, whilst a developed government, by necessity, must resist stagnation. The response to failing to posses the appropriate trait is the same for each. Ladies and gentlemen, we are launching a revolt and taking over. Specifically, we will take Michigan, Florida, Texas, and some worthless state like Kansas to handle our food while we enjoy life in the other portions of our new country.
