In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Uhh... we can buy guns you realize? Screw the pitchforks and torches, I have a hunting rifle and a good amount of ammunition
We're planning to get Gun Control to L+ within 2 years, though, so you'd probably just be wasting our money.

Someone remind me why strict gun control is considered a liberal ideal? Seems pretty anti liberal to me.

Because liberals tend to advocate it?

No.  You cannot compromise the ideals of Liberalism.  If you concede on any issue then you've clearly been corrupted.

I don't have a problem with people owning or using handguns, rifles, automatics, anti-vehicular weapons or even crossbows and dull rocks as long as they do so responsibly.

That is what I see as a liberal (probably excessively liberal) point of view on the second amendment.

The conservative point of view would be to restrict ownership and use through FUD, regulation or outright banning.

I realize that is almost exactly the opposite of the official point of view, but it makes more sense to me.

I mostly agree with the rest of the liberal POV on other topics to some extent or another.

It's possible to be a radical anything. As long as you do it to the extreme! ;)

This means skateboards and wicked stunts during press announcements.

I also don't have any problems with people using plutonium pellets responsibly (they're very useful as heating elements), just so you know.
