So are plains. Also, they can hide behind non-burning trees. So that advantage is null.

Fire spreads. and will be larger due to the amount of fuel it'll have there. Grass won't have long to burn before it runs out.

Even if you do cause a fire, it won't necessarily hit and kill the elves and the resulting chain fire won't necessarily kill them very quick.

Overall, your position is blatantly inferior. You'll get full of holes much quicker than the elves. That's why I'm running for high ground or rocks; cover, concealment, and maybe even high ground (which reduces their range and increases ours).

On the other hand, though, people near fire tend to panic. ^^; Either way I'm on your horse so I don't have much choice in the matter.

Indeed... However, people in cover tend to feel safer. So fire has less effect on their morale.

Just noting that if your cover is on fire, you don't feel very safe. :3

Even if it's on fire, you can just stay a few inches away and you'll still have decent cover until the top starts burning or the trunk starts burning a lot. Also, you still have, oh, a few hundred more trees to take cover behind.

In addition, it's not guaranteed for fire splashing against a trunk to set it on fire. Sometimes it just doesn't start.

Elves, remember. They'll be distracted by burning trees (And trying to save them)

They're Dark Elves. I don't think they're really going to care having lived underground for a while. Unless, of course, I'm badly informed on the nature of Dark Elves.

Even if it's on fire, you can just stay a few inches away

That's Hollywood thinking... Heat from a fire tends to radiate. You can't stay too close to one and be comfortable at all, not to mention there will be smoke.

Also, you still have, oh, a few hundred more trees to take cover behind.

Until the fire spreads. Then you've let yourself get caught in a burning death trap.

In addition, it's not guaranteed for fire splashing against a trunk to set it on fire. Sometimes it just doesn't start.

Point, but we can keep trying. Additionally even if the fireball doesn't set the trunk -or an elf- on fire there's still the chance of it burning the grass or and low-hanging leaves about, which would then spread and possibly set the trees on fire. If we didn't have magic at all they would have a great advantage, yeah, but with two of us flinging fireballs (three if I change my action) we have a pretty good chance of burning something.

Also there's the fact we don't know how hot the fire we conjure is. It might be very high temperature indeed. ^^;

I've been near a hot fire before. My father has too. You can get pretty close before you really get uncomfortable.

And plus, being uncomfortable near a fire is better than being uncomfortable having a bullet in my brain. That's just my opinion though.

Until the fire spreads. Then you've let yourself get caught in a burning death trap.
Indeed.

But if you let that happen, you would've already had a bullet in your head for not being aware of your surroundings.

Point, but we can keep trying. Additionally even if the fireball doesn't set the trunk -or an elf- on fire there's still the chance of it burning the grass or and low-hanging leaves about, which would then spread and possibly set the trees on fire.
But around here, I'd bet the grass would be quite wet. Which wouldn't burn too badly

Or very low temperature. Or without much fuel (which would lead to it burning out as soon as it hits something).

Yeah, I need to add in a current weather/time status. The blizzard ended, but the grass and the foliage is still wet and moist.

Anyway, should I let the argument continue (this is interesting :D) or should I roll right now?

Just roll. No-one is going to budge as far as I can tell. I tried to save them from a future of pincushioness, but alas it was to no avail.

Indeed, might as well go ahead and roll. ^^; (I was going to keep going but the power went out temporarily and it just now came back on. I'd rather have the turn than a debate anyway.)

Giving up on saving his team from being a bunch of pin-cushions, Tarran rides on ahead as Porin uses his ice shards to wound the elves, allowing the horse to pass through unharmed. The elves decide to focus on the rest of the group, and thus Tarran is probably un-followed (you know what this means). He comes across an outcropping of rock, and encounters a lone Dark Elf Ccrossbowman.

"Woa! Where you come from!? Don't kill!"

A splattering of Dark Elf brain covers the nearby trees!
The Dark Elf Bowman has been struck down.

The Copper Bullet hits the Dark Elf Bowman in the (4) lower body, (2) bruising the guts!

The Dark Elf Bowman retches.

Nihilius 'Cogs' Vekt-"We can take them!" shouts Cogs as he checks out his new rifle before opening fire on a flanking Dark Elf Spearman, (3) putting three shots in his head with ease! However, an Axeman comes up from behind once again, but Cogs slams the barrel of his rifle into the Elf, knocking him out!

'Zrk'-Zrk decides to focus on the Archers, tossing fireballs in one hand while firing his pistol in the other! (3) He manages to scatter the remaining archers without actually hitting any, (2) while missing horribly with his fireball. Zrk, disappointed, reloads his pistol.

GAME EVENT:

Another storm of arrows comes from within the forest. The elves responsible remain concealed.

Taran, Ivan, and Porin are at the rock outcropping, and are thus safe.
(3) Taric attracted a bit of attention, resulting in him getting shot at, but the only arrows that hit him rebound off of his armor.
(3) Bjorn is hit with an arrow in the leg, causing some bleeding.
(1) Cogs is hit with multiple arrows, and he is hit in the right arm, left leg, and torso!
(3) Zrk manages to dodge an arrow, with another once again rebounding off of his armor.
