Gah, woodworking tools give me a headache. Doesn't help that I've been using red cedar... the stuff smells nice but I really inhaled too much of it while cutting.

Making another crossbow :)

Roll 36

Item Values

Spoiler: Precious Metals (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Warfare Metals (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Enemies (click to show/hide)

Group Kills:
Butch 'The Butcher' Artiboucheff (Killed by everyone)

Objective(s):
Slay Yaetrix.
Slay Schazin.

Location(s):
Spoiler: The Weary Hills (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: RidgeWalled - Castle (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Barakar - Town (click to show/hide)

Rolls:

Porin Keeperechoes-Porin reached out and felt his hands begin to heat up. He casted a fireball and almost threw it by the time Bjorn surprised him, resulting in the fireball landing a few feet ahead in the dirt and going out.

""Porin don't. The bolt was iron. These aren't hippy elves!""

Tarran Terra-"Come on guys, let's just go as soon as we can. Find ourselves a more defensible position."

Tarran began to ride on, but since the rest of the group was stalling, he simply looked for a possible outcropping of rock. He saw a mountain obscured by clouds, but within riding distance.

Bjorn Inmus-No action, just dialogue?

Ivan 'Sir Fiddle' Fiddlebottom-Ivan yanks the arrow out, (2) only to be shot again by a different elf.

Taric 'Madman' Cogudib-Taric readies his rifle, flips the safety, and takes aim.

Nihilius 'Cogs' Vekt-"I agree with Tarran. We should look for a more defensible position first."
(5)
Cogs is dismayed by the fact that nobody seems to be paying attention. Still, he draws his rifle and flips the safety off, anticipating an ambush, and giving himself a bonus to his next roll.

'Zrk'-"Porin, sneak around behind the elves. Bjorn, go do some wizardy stuff and keep them distracted. Everyone else, spread out, when I give the word, open fire."
(5)
Due to your inspiring leadership, everyone acts accordingly!

GAME EVENT:

Bjorn creates a pillar of flame above his head, (6) attracting dozens of arrows from a group of elves in the trees. (5) He casts a barrier to block the arrows and snap them like toothpicks, albeit all at once.

Taric, on the other hand, (6) fires a shot to test the bullet's trajectory. Aiming again, he shoots once more, scoring a direct hit on one of the elf archers! Four remain!

Meanwhile Porin enters sneaking mode (3) but hesitates to advance due to a sudden group of armed elves that come out of nowhere! The elve's dark skin can only mean one thing: dark elves. (Obviously) The ambush attacks everyone but Porin!

I'm still on Tarran's horse, I think, so I guess I'm going with him? (After all I started hiding but I didn't go anywhere, so...)

Porin peeked around Tarran's back. Elves. Trouble, always. He frowned and raised a hand at the party that had appeared to ambush them, trying out his ice shards spell. He kept his other arm wrapped around Tarran so he wouldn't lose his balance and fall off.

Throw a watermelon, than cats another rock barrier, this time around the elves.

It then travels around the group of guards like a boomerang. It (5) Slits another throat, (Three 6's in a row!) decapitates three more (!), (4) slices open the last guard's arm, and (2) narrowly misses a random bystander. It then flies back into your hand. Holy crap.

"We can take them." Cogs calls to his fleeing allies, checking the workings of his new rifle, before opening fire on the dark elves.

Are you guys seriously trying to fight elves in a forest from the open plains?

I guarantee you guys that you'll become pincushions very, very soon if any more show up.

Not likely if we stay at range. And use lots of fireballs and firemelons.

...Let me explain it to you:

Advantages to people in plains: NONE.
Disadvantages to people in the plains: NO COVER AT ALL. No concealment.
Advantages to people in forest: Cover and concealment (forcing attackers to either get in close so they can see them or waste all their ammo blindfiring).
Disadvantages to people in the forest: None.

I really don't think you guys are in a superior position. At all.

Err, I don't think they are if they're good elves (AKA the burning sort. Trees are flammable ;D)
