My problem with the game as written:  Everybody will be playing exclusively their own homemade cards for the first 250 turns (in a 4-player game), won't they?

(less obvious than the others, but all card art that I use was made by me.)

Edit: added BSOD.

Hate to say it but the text is pretty hard to read, is there a specific reason you're doing that funky text-outline stuff?

I have the feeling here some people have never played this game.

A few things you should note -

There is only one deck.

Quote
but it'd be good to have a list of all the current cards we have so we don't have 5-6 magma cards floating around.
But what about the card that gives you more points for every magma card thats been played? :P
In the in person games I've played, card confidentiality is usually a pretty big thing, since half the fun is seeing what sort of wacky stuff you draw each turn.

There doesn't need to be any consistancy - people will often make sets in their own cards that work together, but its ultimately up to them. sometimes there will be hilarious results and unforseen consequences - I've seen a player make a dozen cards that killed people (but had no other effect), while another player had as a joke created a card that said dead people lost a thousand points. Seeing interesting things happen to your cards is half the fun!

Anyways, if you're interested in playing, I've started that thread in forum games, and I've already gotten 30 cards + the ones posted in this thread to work with.

Another interesting bit - Games tend to include cards from previous games as well, often randomly.

I used to play regularly, and the general approach was each person creates 10-20 new cards for the game in one hour, then we mix them together with an equal number from the megadeck, then we play for half an hour, then we take turns voting on which cards get to go into the megadeck and which ones are torn up.

You win round one by making the most cards, you win round two by winning the game, and you win round three by having the most cards make it into the megadeck. :P

I've also had lots of crazy stuff happen, like calling someone up at two in the morning to say they won a game because a card they'd made that got added to the megadeck a year ago gave them a single point in a negative point heavy game, meaning they won a game they weren't even playing with a single point. :P

But generally the megadeck ends up up being trimmed over time until your only left with cards that are awesome in some way.

There's not really any strategy, its just an excuse to have fun in a whole lot of creative ways.

The count to ten was a reference to FPS slowdown, note.

I'll try to find the time to make some cards and/or join the game.

I made a funny!

Anyways, I learned this a bit different. First time playing ever: You get 40 or so note cards. Each player draws 5. They make those into cards. They put them back into the deck with the as of yet unmade cards, and shuffle. Everyone then draws 5 cards. The game begins.
Next game: Take some cards from last game, mix in with new cards.

Thats... not actually different from what I described. Mine simply reflectes the reality of playing every week for a year :P

We sometimes played with blank cards in deck, but that actually got old quickly. And we quickly realized that bigger decks were a lot more fun, especially once people started playing cards that increased draw size and stuff :P

i is the square root of -1
Or -2. Or any negative number. i is the square root of a negative number, and is the only part of our math system that isn't classified as a "real" number.
