Stark Raving Mad Adventurer can go in water?
« on: April 16, 2007, 11:04:00 pm »

One time while I was trying to build up my ambush skill and ignoring my character's drowsy state.

Still made sure he wasn't hungry or thirsy, by having him drink swamp water and eat mud.

He eventually went "stark raving mad".  Didn't really think this was a big deal until I got to swamp water to get a drink, he got in it (started drowning though).

It this a glitch or does he want to kill himself (which I wouldn't blame him)?

I'm pretty sure this is normal behavior and that the dwarf is trying to commit suicide.  They're just tend to go back onto shore in their wanderings so it doesn't work too well.

My adventurer was a human...

Plus this was in adventure mode.

Humans can go insane, yes. I think this is normal, as insane creatures may try to kill themselves. You'd probably fall into a chasm is you walked into it...

While we're on the subject, though, why can't we manually step off of ledges, jump into chasms, or waltz into rivers in Adventure Mode unless we're thrown or pushed in?  Seems to me that if I had to get down a Ziggurat temple in a hurry (such as when there are five skeletons gnawing on my face), I'd rather jump down and risk breaking a leg than deal with trying to get those buggers off of me and traipse all the way around, bleeding all the while...

I didn't want to add that until I added climbing/swimming etc. all at once.  Flying too I guess, if you can fly.
