Da sceletal thing VANISHES!?

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? All I did was punch him in the leg and he disappeared. Why?

yeah happened to me with a quest creature I could not finish the quest so I jump in a river  :P

Skeletal stuff disappears when you kill them. I don't know about the quest creature though.

I didn't have to. Once you leave the site after a quest creature has vanished, the quest is treated as solved.

Zombie/skeletal named things keep respawning. You cannot kill them.

you can kill them

you either have to take their head off in one swipe or cut them half

I've done it with genesis mod though I have no idea about vanilla
