I use SDL, but some unknown force made me vote for legacy.

... And this is why I don't bother with supporting legacy versions in dfhack.

The SDL got some problems with "foreign" (e.g. non-US) keyboards, so I used Legacy for a while.
Now I simply change the layout from my native danish to US whenever I play Dwarf Fortress.

SDL for me. Wow, only 1/21 users use legacy.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

I've used both. On some, but very few computers, Leg runs faster.  Including my old one. SDL all the way, though.

Glad that this thread has some practical informative value...

I use legacy because it allows me to capture videos in fraps.

But only when I am capturing videos, otherwise I use SDL.

SDL, it is dead sexy. From what I can see there is no downside for me. If there is any, please tell so I can make an informed choice.

If you change the render mode to Standard or above then the SDL version should work with FRAPS.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

when DF2010 first came out, I used legacy.  My reasoning was that, when you resize things in legacy they stretch out versus the dragging on SDL which just makes the window larger.  That, and I also got better FPS on legacy for a bit until some releases ago when SDL ran just as good as legacy.

SDL has zoom on the mousewheel that should get you back to how you like it.

I'm currently using Legacy, but I want to use SDL. How easy is it to transfer a legacy save made in .16 to .21 SDL?

Just copy it from the save directory of one to the other.
