I thinks I have 70. The official warriors number somewhere from 10 to 30 and most of the Peretics are capable of fighting due to their pistol shrimp arms.

Mine are split evenly between the two.

Second lair has 2/3 of the warriors though. The fighting culture is just stronger there and for the most part they belive that the fortress that is first lair does not need anymore.

Draignean my man, bio rails are highly inefficient. Any improvement on movement would be best used merely on a one by one basis.

Examples:

Speed of efficient Caerri movement: 1
Speed of bio rails: ≤ 1

Energy efficiency of efficient Caerri movement: 1
Energy efficiency of bio rails: ≤ 1

Bio mass needed for efficient Caerri movement: 0
Bio mass needed for bio rails: > 0

So you see, even if rails are the best way to move the Caerri putting down their own and taking them up as they go wins in Bio mass needed.

Edit: Can I assume that the fortification are done and the scouts are not back yet?

...  That's an interesting theory, think of them as trains though, not cars.

That is what I was saying. Trains are better then walking because they are faster and use resources that we can not eat.

As blobs trains will not have ether of those advantages for you.

They can move incredible bulk with minimal supervision, I can mount heavy defenses in them, and more importantly It serves as a rudimentary circulatory system for my mega beast.

Trust me, the rails have a purpose, and an important one.

Other then the mega beast they will not be more efficient in any of those.

Still, this mega beast sounds interesting. Tell me more!

They'll be more efficient for the defense because they tap into the main power grid, they'd be more efficient for bulk hauling because they don't have to dedicate systems to any other extraneous functions. (This is from a realism standpoint, not a game standpoint. It be difficult to implement bulk hauling from a game point. Defenses just allow the Caerri who travel it to not travel without guards.)

The megabeast was an idea that came out of me trying to figure out what the ultimate expression of my races tech would be. The cities will serve as nerve clusters, each controlling a part of the beast, in between I'm going to build rails, and more rails, some for structure, some for plasma. (The blood plasma, not my-electrons-are-frisky plasma) When I get cities off the surface I'll start adding muscle rails to let it move and the begin stretching skeins of protective sheeting between the cities.

Eventually huge parts of the Caerri community will be housed in various giant beasts, hundreds of thousands times larger than an individual Caerri.

No, it's a massive whatever-the-hell-I-want.

At that size with a race of bio-engineers it could do anything.
