Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It initially resists, but the bug admits defeat after being nicked fairly hard by a spear. Not hard enough (you hope) to be damaged too badly, though.
The connects and connectors are made, and the scalemail armor is created and given to the spear-wielders. A wide field of kelp is seen southwards, not sturdy like the Kelp Tree but seemingly the same otherwise.

The Peretics attempt to domesticate the fish
The fish do not survive long after losing the center of their tail, but they are fairly easily domesticated.

The Kriblits swarm from their den, scouring the floor to find more shell fragments, when five full suits of armor are made a party will go back to the coral of the electric fish, there they will burrow under the ground and repeat the maneuver from before, this time making sure to pull the prey under slowly so as to not attract the attention of the monsters. Hopefully if this works a steady supply of shells and meat will flow into the Kriblit lair.
The Armorsmith, after creating four sets of armor, shuts his door and starts demanding assorted items! They include shells, a bagful of sand, a heat source, and coral!
The warriors decide anyway that four is enough and set off back into Electrorope territory. After finding and sneakily stabbing the shell-wearer, they gradually drag the creature down with them, this time sucessfully not attracting the ropes' attention. They are cheered for greatly upon their arrival back at the Kriblit lair!

The Caerri shall wait for now, focusing their efforts on building the Nematocyst tentacles to protect the main of the colony as well as the extended farms.

10 of the Caerri shall grow the Nematocyst tentacles on themselves, acting as the mobile guard of the The-first-among-equals.

5 Caerri shall study the beasts carefully, so that their forms may be created for later use.
The organic defenses continue to grow, but a lull in the organic flecks floating about causes a delay in the mobile guard's formation, as the farms are growing slower than the defenses as they spread farther out.

The more hungry-looking of the beasts are studied, but seem to be no different from the rest except in tooth shape.

The Triath begin working on designing and manufacturing better tools, armor, and weapons using Ore and coral, a coral mine is set up, and explorer teams continue to search for potential domestic animals and new materials that could be put to use, while others are sent to map the surrounding territory.
New tools, armor, and weapons are made of coral while suitable ore-based designs are made as the search continues. A small creature is seen inside a water vent, but the extreme heat from the vent is quite dissuading. the surroundings outside the cave are mostly nondescript sand and shell fragments even at this size, except for the strange organic mass growing from the giant nearby bones.

The Overseer looked at the calendar in the pod "So whats scheduled for today?" He said. As he looked over his notes he noticed a little red mark in the corner. He peered at it and realized what it was. It was Life Day the anniversary of the founding of the original Peretic civilization. And so he made an announcement of this fact, and there was much rejoicing

A field of kelp? A place teeming with life!

We must tame the field before it can be colonized.

Send the armored warriors out, with scouts. "Persuade" any further insects that are found to come back to the Kelp tree, with the scouts bringing them back. The armored warriors will be mostly scouting, but if the opportunity arrives they will strike and bring the catch home.

Cease the expansion of the farms for now, focus on growing the defense tentacles and increasing the number of collectors on already owned territory. Begin growing heavy connective tissue over the bones to reinforce them, and have a quarter of the Caerri attempt to form a copy of one of the fish out of created cells in order to facilitate communication.

A heat source? He is a freaken heat source.

The Kriblits will give him the creature, the shell is the best we have and the meat should be enough to fuel him for long enough.

The scouting party will leave to the corral fields. The suggest way for them to gather corral is to dig under it and come up inside of it. They will chip some off and come home, thoughts circulating though their minds.

Classical Era is upon you!

After many complaints of excessive heat from people passing by the Armorsmithery, the door opens, and the smith comes out in what looks like fused shell plate shaped into armor, with a strangely transparent helmet and enough coral dust wafting out to cause coughing nearby for a couple days after his return to Kriblit society. Unlike the normal shell armor, this one has overlapping shells only at the joints, with the rest looking as perfectly smooth and polished as it is possible to make shell. Many question how the there is no noticeable trace of stitching, yet the armor is of the exact same shell as that creature given to him, but none doubt that this is likely the next generation of armor. Several engineers come to him and inquire about the shell plating as building material, but he is already asleep by the time they find him in the haze of coral dust slowly making its way out of the cramped-looking place.

15 Caerri form into the shape of one of the fish and move upwards to attempt to communicate, but are repeatedly bitten by the one they've cloned as and lose focus, floating back down dazed.

Defenses are continued, as is the collector count on current territory, but the bones do not fuse correctly with the reinforcement, and begin groaning as if overstressed again.

Exploring the upper reaches of the Kelp Tree, 9 more insects are "persuaded" into service, with one dead insect that refused to give up and attempted to attack a warrior. Since it was larger, it is assumed that was the Alpha of sorts. The pen is quickly expanded to fit the last few as they slowly crawl down.

The kelp field is strangely devoid of life, at least audibly. The shuffling noises and other sounds of movement prove everything expected is here, but what is causing the...Ye gods, what is THAT?! It has the tail of a massive fish, but the front end is not at all fishlike! several warriors are grabbed by the hands of the immense half-fish, their spears not seeming to do anything. The ones who avoided capture quickly retreat back to the Floatune colony!

The peretics take a day off to rest and go forth and multiply
The day of rest ends with many peretics born, there is now about 80 in the colony.

Research on Ore and its possible uses continues, while teams are sent to investigate the strange growth.
Ore Research is spurred forward after a tool made of it is finally made. it is a horribly crude tool, but it shapes the ore much more quickly than coral can. A suggestion to melt some, cool it off, and record the results is proposed, but ignored since the rest of the researchers are creating ore tools to give to the miners, so that they can have a surplus of Ore on which to experiment freely without using up any of the better seeming ore chunks.

The growth has floating things around it which seem to be alive. ATTEMPT DIPLOMACY?

The Peretics split their population in two and make a second colony on the car exterior by the coral. The original colony is to be called Landing point and the second is to be called Hedbosh in honor of the discoverers of the coral building material. The unused coral they currently have is built into a battering ram contraption to aid in gathering more coral

1/2 the Floatune explore in the northern "half" direction, far away from the terrifying monster.

The rest take the day off to reproduce and tend our new domesticated herd. The insects shall be called Perks, for no apparent reason.

The Kriblit's feel the pressure of the small hive and thus they decide to split into two groups. One group will stay in the first lair and dig deeper into the sand for minerals and resources. The other group will go and make a permanent lair hidden away in a large corral that can only be entered by a underground tunnel. The First lair will trade minerals (especially limestone) and specialize in smiths and 'stone' work. The Second lair will trade meat, corral, and shells and specialize in the underground hunting of the shell critters.

If possible the second group will try to capture some shell critters alive to see if they can be tamed.

The Caerri are sad to see their brethren parting, many minds that will not be seen again for some time.

15 Caerri set out to form a new colony further along the bones, 5 of them are armed with nematocyst tentacles and are prepared to defend the group. The other ten trundle slowly away from their first colony, laying a long line through which biological resources can be pumped to aid in the creation of the new colony which shall be known as "Those-who-see-what-may"

The rest of the Caerri will focus on building more floater sacks to stabilize the pressure the existing colony is exerting and they shall also spend some quality time having important things like children.

The Caerri Travel Guard are surprised to see other creatures their size coming towards them! ALERT THE DIPLOMATS, or THE GUARDS?
The colony pipeline is slowly made, it should be finished by next turn if there are no major lulls in organic particulate. If all goes well, two turns from now the new colony should be ready on the right end of the bones.

The floaters are made, and while there are still some problems with getting the reinforcing tissue to properly bond with the bones, the bones stop their groaning, even as the Caerri become 80 in number.

The Kriblit's feel the pressure of the small hive and thus they decide to split into two groups. One group will stay in the first lair and dig deeper into the sand for minerals and resources. The 40 least smithy are chosen by dual decision of the Leader and the Armorsmith, and as they set off southwest with some of the food to find some coral to found Second Lair inside, the Armorsmith takes the two best smithery Kriblets found during the search as apprentices.

1/2 the Floatune explore in the northern "half" direction, far away from the terrifying monster.

The rest take the day off to reproduce and tend our new domesticated herd. The insects shall be called Perks, for no apparent reason.
The Perks refuse to do anything that doesn't require causing injury, so they are left to sit in their box while a way to break their overstubborness is argued out among the warriors and animal tenders.
While the Floatune increase to 70 in number, the 20 who went exploring instead see the giant half-fish again floating through the kelp field, and immediately take a hint from the surrounding wildlife and hide. While it would be shameful to admit ownership of the field to the monsters, a way of either defeating or getting them to leave does not come to mind.

Meanwhile...
The 10 Floatune Warriors captured by the giant half-fish awake inside a rather dry box.
*gasp*
it is remarkably hard to breathe unless they only breathe out their lower holes, since the bottom half of the somewhat oval-shaped container is full of the sea still. The giant chamber outside the oval seems to be cave-like, but its walls are far too smooth to be a natural cave...

The Peretics split their population in two and make a second colony on the car exterior by the coral. The original colony is to be called Landing point and the second is to be called Hedbosh in honor of the discoverers of the coral building material. The unused coral they currently have is built into a battering ram contraption to aid in gathering more coral
40 Peretics, including the Hedboshers, go out onto the surface of the car exterior with some of the food and coral-chipping tools, and start setting up a new colony on the back end of the car, where the coral seems most concentrated. Two turns should see the beginnings of the Hedbosh colony, while a coral battering ram is created for them to use.

The Triath explorers are ordered to attempt diplomacy. Ore shall continue to be mined, and explorers will be sent within the cave.
The Diplomatic of the explorers are sent forward, and notice the creatures noticing them are rather threatening looking with all of the tentacles.
The cave has a large, slow, but fearsomely sized creature, with what seems to be a massive spear lodged in it, almost an eigth of the size of it, and made of unknown materials! It looks carnivorous but too badly hurt to attempt attacking.
