[EDIT:] I also noticed, a lot of the threads that i post in, i seem to add the 8th page. Hmm... odd.

Modding a creature's muscle or skin to be shearable results in the creation of a mutilated corpse at the farmer's workshop (and no apparent harm to the creature!).  This mutilated corpse is useless and unbutcherable and gets dumped on a refuse stockpile.  I'll try and see what happens if you do this with shell instead.  ETA:  It works!  I was able to 'shear' a shell-cow's shell and use it to make shell crafts.

What about bones? Or limbs?  What happens if you shear a dwarf who's lost a limb?  Does it get anything back?

I have a mod that consists of walrus men that have pet rocks and vuvuzelas. Also, bearavens.

Urist McFootball likes granite, steel, llama leather, socks, and vuvuzelas for their BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I'm not big on modding weird stuff.  I like my things to make sense.  So probably modding catgirls as a sub class of humans, and giving them claws.  And I need to try to play fortress mode and get one so I can see if the vermin hunting and owner adopting tags even do anything to an intelligent creature.

This might not count as being weird, but it totally is very outlandish in the world of DF

I modded in a super powered railgun. Yes, a RAILGUN. It blasts enemies from Point a to Point X, where X is a wall that makes a creature explode. Giants, ettins and minotaurs weren't immune to the blast.

I'd love to see the raws for this.

The railgun doesn't always work 100%, but if it does work, it launches the target a few squares. If it hits a wall in mid air, and if the target is sufficiently sized, then the target will explode.

I haven't modded much yet, but back in .40d I created dwarf hamsters as common pets for dwarves. Logically, they were also killing machines...

Made a species of Wild Dwarvish Drunkards that bleed alcohol, are constantly throwing up, can attack by projectile vomiting, wield barrels and other containers full of booze, don't feel pain, and spread a dizziness+nausea syndrome through their vomit.

I've only done two mods so far, so I haven't gotten around to modding in anything really weird yet. I did, however, mod in cheagles - sort of like brightly-coloured rabbit-ish creatures that can breathe fire.

Since I'm still sort of new to modding, I kind of just... meshed a dragon and a rabbit together. The resulting fire-breathing bunnies were surprisingly effective against much larger animals.

That said, I once made bones brewable because my fort had no booze and no seeds and was about to die.

Urist H Christ, that's brilliant. I'm off to mod in bone lager, leather brew and all manner of wonderful things... Wait, couldn't you make drink out of stone? If this is more involved than just tweaking the mead reaction, would you mind posting the raws?

I'd like to say that weirdest thing I've modded in is the My Little Pony civilisation. But it pales in comparison to the weirdness that is making dogs milkable, and the males milkable for semen, with the intention of selling dog semen jelly roasts to the elves. I screwed up the tags so the females were being milked for semen. My dorfs screwed up the plan by devouring the dog semen jelly. But I've been given a few hints on fixing it and I'll see if I can make it work.

heres what i recommend for further exploration...a reaction to turn it into wood/dog(whatever)wood for when you really want to piss off the elves..who knows it could be reversable so you can store in block form and not have it eaten..plus imagine the elves trapped in cages made of it. ;)

my own wierdest thing was something i accidently "created" when i was making a cheating reaction in the kitchen..im not even sure which one of the lines made it, but it was giving green glass blocks, steel chains, rosegold barrels, some other misc, and the wierd thing called dragon fatty..it used to be cookable, usable as leather, and cuttable like a gem..now its just the leather and gem. Nice high drawvenly value on it too :D i see chests and gems among other things of it over time, Strangely i dont think gem cutting per say is being used to cut it, it offhand seems to be leather crafts.

Mistakes from Dead Space Mod.
Exploding babies. A mini-chainsaw that spins at the speed of light. Funniest one? Suit of armor, that was basicly impenatrable, allowed you to carry extra armor. So I'd end up with humans with titanium rippers, and Tank suits running around as bandits, with 50 regular RIGs attached to it.

Hmm, from what I can remember:

- Made a Cat civ (I remember forgetting to give them intelligence and door opening capabilities). Their main weapons were daggers and blowguns wielded with their mouth. Ever saw a small kitty decapitate a Dorf with a knife between its teeth? Ever wondered how they were able to reload a blowgun after firing?

- Made a new night creature, small, has 4 arms and has syndrome bites. it runs away from adventurers everytime...it had all the aggressive tags and all!

- Made the Merfolk able to shoot out magic ice projectiles.

- Made magical throwing knives. The freezing ones was interesting but fire knives are fun since it boils the targets blood when stuck and also explodes while the target is still alive. Also made some new swords that explode. Also made variations to the magic missile mod to explode in new ways. Also some unique materials...that also explode with fiery death mostly. No, I'm not Micheal Bay.

- Made a Fluffy Wambler King megabeast. It's attacks by glomping you to death. Made another Dragon race with acidic breath to strong...it can take out anyone very slowly and very painfully if they're even hit once. Even in death, it got it's vengeance against the Colossi squad in out breath.

- Latest one I have done is accidentally "fusing" Kobold and Goblin civs that now live in Dark Kobold Fortresses. Gob couples can also give birth to Kobolds and vice versa...
