Dig out your fortress 1 extra tile in each direction then plate the entire thing in gold constructions. Then pave over the entire surface with floors and ramps. Then create a giant labyrinth on the surface with golden hatches leading into lava pits and golden doors and golden chains keeping deadly monsters at bay.

The gold production goes well however I still need more haulers, for some reason I didn't get a lot of migrants in the past 4 years, I set the cap to 300 because it's going to take a lot of haulers to move my 4 million Urists worth of gold stuff around, so far things have been really slow. Should I move most of my fortress down to live next to the magma workshops? It feels like it takes forever to get any hauling done.

I like burrows but the more I use them the more I realize their limitations - you can't always take into account everything and then you get job spam. I really can't think of a way to divide my upper and lower fortress without spam like that cuse every variant I try ends up with some dwarves spamming cancellations sooner or later, anyone know how to avoid the organizational nightmare of having a lower and upper part of the fort?
