Designation, Priorities and Scarcity
« on: March 05, 2011, 10:25:42 pm »

Two suggestions. First, the ability to use the designation menu to set a priority on designated tasks. Even if it's only High Priority, Low Priority, and normal. It means you'll be able to plan out your diggings and then have the dwarfs concentrate on the important areas first.

The second is to have the ability to adjust the scarcity of metal during the world gen. Right now, it's sufficiently scarce to make using it annoying. Except when it's all over. Then it's just annoying.

You can find the list of in progress development items here

It's also recommended that you search in this forum before making suggestions.

You might also want to look into the modding forums for information on how to adjust world gen.

"Job Priorities" was a winner of the Eternal Suggestion Voting, and has been on the development page since then, although it may yet be quite a while before Toady starts working on any of the ESV winners.

The thing on metal scarcity is already supposed to be in the game, as it has a token for adjusting rarity, but it's simply not an implemented feature, yet.  The fact that the token for it exists shows Toady has some clear intent for such a thing, but minerals right now are an obvious work-in-progress, and Toady has been made QUITE well aware of all the problems with 31.19's changes in minerals.

Ah. Never saw the ESW.

And I knew that, I just figured it should be an option in the in game menu. But good to know.
