No and Yes. Although a project to build a stairwell up to the very top of the desk would be too large and could lead to disaster, a colony inside the leg is perfectly viable for a small town. It'll have outskirting houses made of webs or weaved carpeting though, since you can't fit all your people in one leg.
 
NOTE: Megaprojects are possible, but be careful how mega they are! The bigger the project, the more chance for failure and the bigger it'll be!
 

I need more webs. I haven't even finished the wall, and I still need to make a ladder out of the web to reach the top of the bottom of the desk.

There are more webs, but you'll need to be able to kill a spider first. For reference, each spider is a daddy long leg, but he's like a GCS to you, since you're tiny.

What's food generally used for?

A storable population boost. It's unneeded mostly, but if you get into a war or have a disaster happen randomly or through your own mistakes Food can be spend to give you back some of that lost population.

What did you use to make the map ?

MSPaint. Mostly the Line tool, Fill tool and the Copy/Paste function. Why?

Would it be possible to get a more detailed description of the child's room?

Just say Survey surroundings to get a description of the room you're in. Expect things to change every once in a while, because humans are fickle creatures.

As far as I know there was never a fourth. And if you have spore, making a spore creature out of your race would be much appreciated! But it's not a problem if you don't.

Can you tell us how many smalls we each have ?

right now? I'd say about 30-50 each. It's growing fast though, I want to get you guys to where you can start exploring the rest of the house, and during Early Tribal it's kind of a bad idea.

You'll hit 100 soon enough, and after that you can start spawning new colonies. I wouldn't put the too far away from eachother, though, in case you get in a war.

Also, while you can live in someone elses city you cannot merge cultures. You'll still have control over only your race.

There's carpet most everywhere but the Hall. The Hall is like a desert in Civ 4. Difficult to survive in early game, but lots of resources for late game.

Late Tribal is coming up. Expect the ability to dig through wood, and two colonies at the most. Each Era gives you one colony to build, without Human intervention.

less than a millimeter. About as large as two dustmites, I'm not entirely sure how large that is though. Just really, really small.
