Population Capacity

How do I set the population cap for the current world I am using?

Oh, and I am playing 0.31.18.

Thanks.

Every few miles, [the dwarves] stop the cart.  One of the dwarfs (sic) gets off, digs a hole down below the dirt layers, licks the bedrock, and then they know exactly where they are.  It's called GPS: Geological Piquancy Sampling.

For the world, or the current embark?

For the embark, I would recommend you download the lazy newb pack and use the GUI to set it.

If that's not an option, you need to open one of the ini-files, I don't recall which, and change the population cap option in there.

Beware, though, the population cap is not a precise limit, you are likely to get quite a bit more than the cap you set before the immigrants stop coming for real.

-snip-

Okay, I think I am fine for now.
I'll post again (instead of edit, so it gets noticed) if the population goes quite a bit over the cap.

if you don't want any immigrants at all - set cap number much much lower than your population right now. For instance when I hit 20, I set my cap at 7. An got no more immigrants since then. I have 40 now, just cause dwarves breed.
