Also dwarves aren't good at counting.  If they were, you wouldn't need a Bookkeeper, because the dwarves would be able to count their stuff on their own.  As it is, dwarves are bad with numbers, and can only count up to 30.  Thus, if there were ever a work order for 31, the dwarf would stare at it and say, "Shucks, I better keep working 'til I die, 'cause I gotta make infinite stone crafts!" and promptly die of dehydration in his workshop.

Not true. Try making reactions taking hundreds of stones as reagents. They'd never miscount even single one.
