You ask him to make a fine (good), steel shield and he say's that it will cost just over 4,000f so you decide to settle for a bronze one at 2,400f. He says it will be ready by the end of the week. You can sell your buckler now if you want, or you can keep it and use it as a backup.

What will you do?

Also, while waiting for the shield, spar with our companion (so she gets better in combat). Practice magic also.

You sell your buckler for 24f. You then go to find your companion in Lucky's tavern and as soon as you walk in the innkeeper bursts out with a speech.

"Those who dare, and have the prowess may enter my Tower unmolested. Or, for those whose curiosity might just kill them, for I will tell you the truth of my stump. Enter with only a word of Truth. After, you will face a series of Challenges. In my years and travels I have amassed great treasures which I am willing to share with those proven to be worthy individuals. These will test your faculties so the weak need not apply. Once begun your acceptance is binding, for there is no way out save for success. Good Luck."

"Ah, hello Antione!" Katrina exclaims, "You are back, I feared that I would never see you again."

"Katrina, if there are to be monsters in this tower then it will help to get some combat practice in before we leave." you tell her.

Sparring happens.

You then go off and practice your spells for a bit.

When the shield is ready, you go and get before finding Katrina to tell her you are ready to go.

In fact, thats the only spell she has we know about... Lets hope we haven't roped ourselves into an escort quest with a walking fridge...

You leave with Katrina, heading for the tower that you can see just over the walls of the town. Travelling with a mage is brilliant, when you are hungry she conjures up some food for you and when you need entertaining she performs an illusion. It turns out that she can only cast spells through song, which, although cool, isn't particularly practical whilst remaining stealthily. Luckily for you she is a good singer. However, as you get deeper into the forest you start noticing strange things. The forest is filled with a clinging mist and strange noises. A feeling of being not right overcomes you. Every time you glimpse something you look again, to see if you're seeing right. Your mind questions, "Did that bird have two heads? Did that squirrel have spiders eyes? Did that fox have bee markings? Did you hear humming from that tree?" There is an almost understandable muttering surrounding you. You feel eyes staring at you. About three quarters of the way in you are nearly overcome with fear, but you pull yourself together and carry onwards.

When you finally exit the forest near the base of the tower, you stand in front of large thick wooden door. You notice that there is no mortar in the tower and the stones almost seem to be breathing. A mouth forms in the door and booms, "Tell me, what it is you truly desire, and you shall enter and your challenge will begin."

You both pause for a moment and look at eachother before Katrina speaks up, "I wish to become the world's greatest sorceress!"

There is a moment where all is silent before a hole, the perfect size and shape for Katrina to fit through, opens up in the door. Knowing what to do, she quickly walks through the hole and it closes behind her.
