You leave a moment for a dramatic pause and then speak, "... Potential."

Another hole opens, larger than the one for Katrina, for you and you walk through. upon the hole closing, a voice booms, "Now the challenge begins!"

The room you stand in is plain cut stone and round with thin windows allowing some light in. An ornate circular rug from a far off land is the only decoration. A bright beam of purple light shines down a centre hole in the ceiling.

"At the top of the shaft is what you seek. Your success depends on how this problem is - resolved."

Katrina opens her mouth to speak, "I have a flight spell, but I can only cast it on myself. I may be able to help you climb up if you are any good at climbing, unless you have another suggestion."

Test the rug. See if it floats. If not, ask Katrina if she can cast the flight spell on that.

"Can you cast the flight spell on the carpet?" you ask.

"Sadly, I can only cast the flight spell on myself. I guess I could levitate you up to the top of the shaft, but you would be up there alone until I can get you on firm ground."

You agree to this and she begins singing a song in a foreign tongue, unknown to you. You feel yourself suddenly become lighter and then lift off the ground, slowly rising up the shaft of light. You get about ten feet up before the walls suddenly squirt out a liquid at the two of you. You suddenly feel queasy, and although Katrina seems to be fine you suddenly begin throwing up everywhere. This startles Katrina and she drops you to the ground. You collide with the ground after a ten foot fall and injure yourself rather badly against the hewn stone floor, still throwing up your meal from earlier. Katrina is horrified at this and doesn't know how to react.

After nearly a minute of retching you finally recover. And Katrina suggests that you both rest for ten minutes while she casts a healing spell on you.

What will you do?

While resting, you take a look at the liquid and find it to be a thin, grey-green, oily substance. Upon asking Katrina what it is, she replies that she doesn't know.

"Maybe... The tower is designed so magic is dispelled or something..." you say, getting an idea.

You sit on the carpet, bringing Katrina with you.

"Up!" you shout, waiting for something to happen, "Rise! Ascend! Climb!"

Nothing happens.

You look at the purple light shining down and it appears to be light shining down from the room above. There is a hole in the ceiling through which the light is coming through.

You then cast ignite fire on the substance, and it catches fire.
