However, the creator said he released it today.

And what's wrong with it being a clone anyway?

Minecraft was an infiniminer clone as well.

Heck most games are clones of other games.
(It's especially rampant in fps's :P)

Well, It's like calling all FPS's Halolikes.

Apart from being Wrong as the first FPS was waaay before then (Was it wolfenstien or doom?) it's also stupid, as the enre has better candidates for names.

Rougelikes are a niche game, and as such get called that.

Clones can surpass the original, so Notch could easily drop to second fiddle.

I've always gotten the impression that java is a poor choice for making games so I guess thats one thing that this game have over minecraft. But we'll have to see if it becomes a lackluster clone or if it can stand for it self.

Well Taz often new genres are created.

For example the RPG genre is considered its own genre despite being an offshoot of the Adventure genre (Sadly what makes an RPG and RPG instead of an Adventure game is very very shallow)
