Minecraft isn't a genre, though; It's a game. Fortress Craft is not just another game in a genre, it's a copy of another.

The constraints and designs used to mae the game itself qualifies the genre.

Don't play Minecraft, but here's my quick thoughts on the new "clone", "copy", "ripoff" or whatever this new game on Xbox is.

The makers of Minecraft should now approach Sony and Nintendo, the game would be great on either console, and we all know how much these console companies love to piss each other off.  Heck, make a mac version (if not already), throw it on Android devices and IPhone (if not already), and also on all the new tablets that are coming out.

Also, the greatest form of flattery is imitation.

I absolutely believe someone can make a cool game based on MC. The Xbox one is definitely NOT it as far as I can tell so far. It's a blatant cash-in ripoff with no new features except for an eye-gouging tileset

Screw E.T., this game is clearly a shameless ripoff of Tic Tac Toe, which was originally made when someone traveled to the future and drew inspiration from this game.

When I saw the thread title I was hoping to read about a game that's a cross between Team Fortress and Minecraft. I am disappointed. 

But to get slightly more on-topic, games in the same genre aren't clones of each other by virtue of their differences. For instance, while both are first person shooters, Team Fortress has different maps, characters, weapons, enemies, sounds, vibe, ect. than Unreal Tournament; no one would mistake one for the other. A clone is a game that emulates the original without doing much to differentiate it from the original.

Fortress Craft strikes me as being a clone. I don't see anything in that game I don't already get from Minecraft.

On a side note: Seriously, someone make a cross between Team Fortress and Minecraft.

Nope, from what i can tell, they are saying that this was supposed to be a cross between dwarf fortress and minecraft (not that it is like DF in any way, but still).
