Ok, I just got ninja'd there... twice.

I was also going to say that that still doesn't justify the price.

Define "justify". After all, value is totally subjective

People like the way it looks/feels, and that has value, as does the fact that it doesn't corrode (which is relevant no matter what you use it for). It's also rare.

Be careful of buying counterfeit gold.  Yes, there is such a thing.  It's tungsten plated with gold.

Thing is, if you priced gold according to its actual industrial usage, it would probably cost something like a few dollars a pound. There just isn't that much need in industry.

But seriously, buy and hold a few shares in some good companies. Great things are afoot in Japan. Great things. If I hadn't squandered my money, that's where I would be sending it.

Or you could invest in one of the many machine companies.

Like the people that make automated checkout machines for super markets or the people that make backscatter Xray machines or even the people behind all of those red light/ speeding cameras that keep popping up all over the country.

You did say you wanted the most bang for you buck, right?

Thing is, ornaments and knick-knacks and jewelery are in fact an "actual industrial use", just not in the sort of industry you're thinking of.

The vast majority of the world's gold is not in the form of "bling." It's mostly bricked and buried. The stuff never moves; it's traded electronically.

Okay, good point. I suppose that can contribute to adjustments in value as well.

The entirety of gold dug up so far, all made into a cube, would be about the size of an apartment or so.

dude if you really need others to tell you that it would be wiser to save up .. because you will be dissappointed by the personal taste of others and just loose the money for something you most likely will not  like to have and/or use :) + you seem to not be skilled enough to handle a good product search despite everything is online :) or you are just a lazy bastard as most 16 year olds :D

after all get some own ideas of what you like and not .. dont ask others :) it makes you a better human the same time not being dependend of other peoples opinions :) i heard chicks dig that a bit later on :P

...

or you spend it on booze and whores you let an older pal purchase :P
