Use it as walking around money.

Plant them in a pot of dirt, and hope a money tree will eventually sprout.  :P

Seriously, save that shit and take a kick ass cross country road trip in a few years. Or go to French Polynesia or something. Unless you're parents are really rich you're gonna wish you'd help on to it.

I blew my saving on an xBox and herbal supplements when I was younger. Huge mistake. All the money I spent, I could have taken a week off in Guam.

Just a suggestion, but when I graduated high school, I took my truck, bought some shovels tools and materials for my first job, hired two friends, and started doing landscaping work for people in the community.  I fed myself and my friends all summer, and tripled my money by the time I left for college.

If you've got any job skills or experience, this might be a good route.  This is much more satisfying than buying yourself an item once.

I DO want to travel... but I'm saving in the bank as well, and when I do get a job, I going to put about half my paycheck in the bank. I would like to be told what would get the best bang for my buck. NOW. Not in 3 years. I can save until then. I have money now and I want to spend it. Just tell me what would be a good buy.

Take up gambling (lotteries count).  Or boozing (whoring optional).  Aren't those the classic ways to waste money?

There's a damn near infinite number of things to spend money on. Nobody can tell you what's the best "bang for your buck" because we don't know what you like or want. If you ask "What can I spend $250 on?" you're not going to get a response that is very valuable without providing more information.

Open an online trading account and make your fortune!

Seriously, don't waste the money. Do your own research and invest smart. Don't listen to the TV pundits. Buy companies with real value, not some fly in the night bid that might evaporate.

Buy gold. Leave oil for the moment, it's artificially high because of the middle-eastern rebellions.

And gold isn't artificially high?

It will stay artificially high for long enough for you to turn a (good) profit on it.

And gold isn't artificially high?

That remains to be seen.

But considering that it has no economic use(other than as a "hedge against inflation", which is an artificial construct of our inefficient and antiquated resource distribution system); yes, yes it is.

EDIT: However, there is no telling how high it'll go before the bubble pops. If a major war breaks outs...

All the guys who bought gold cheap in the eighties are pushing people to buy it off from them now, because they don't expect they will ever see gold prices this high anytime in their lifetime, so yes, i'd say gold is waaaaay overpriced

Gold does have economic uses. It's a noble metal and is handy in certain industries, particularly electronics.

Also, looking pretty is an industry unto itself, really.

Gold is also a high density, low melting point, corrosion resistant and malleable metal. It makes pretty good bullets. Or at least it would if it wasn't overpriced.
