I've taken to dual-wielding swords, as I really like the image of it, even if it isn't the most effective thing in the world.

If it's a relatively non-dangerous enemy, I'll always stab at their lower/upper body.  If the spine or heart is hit, great.  Typically, I secretly hope the weapon gets stuck; I always follow it up with a slash to the head with the other weapon.  That particular combo of stab-in-chest + decapitation looks really cool in my head.

But if the enemy IS dangerous, I'll exclusively try to either disarm them or knock them over, whatever advantage is reachable.  After that it's just a matter of eliminating them before anything can go wrong.

have to say when in fortress mode i find any millatery with picks are deadly, even if its just copper against iron armour.

so i tend to pick up any picks i find and use them alot. think they get the armour peircing thing like spears do.

Two-handed sword.  Shields are for wimps.

1.  Strike the easiest to hit target, preferring arms or legs if possible.
* Pain slows the opponent down, reducing their capability to fight back

2. Slash the easiest to hit leg or weapon arm.
* Legshots can down the opponent, significantly reducing speed and debuffing the opponent's defenses and offensive capability.  Weapon Arm hit removes offensive capability.

3. Repeat 2.

4. If the opponent is not disarmed slash at weapon arm. Else GOTO 5.

5. Stab upper or lower body based on chance to hit.  Upper body preferred.  Slash at head if an easy strike.
* Hoping for a heart or lung hit.  Lower body for a guts hit, which nauseates them and makes the opponent even slower.

6. Repeat 5 until dead.  If the opponent is nauseous slash at lower body instead of stab.

the first thing you need to lean to be a better and faster fighter is that the upper arm is one of the best places to attack.

I personally prefer to free the enemy of his\hers\its ability to stand, then aim for the head if I can get a shot.

I apply the sharp edge of a sword to whatever limb I have a normal/solid strike to. Getting rid of either leg is good; as for the arms, getting rid of their shield-arm first makes it easier to lop off their sword arm, and if I get their sword arm first then they can't attack me efficiently while I'm hacking them up. And I always take opportunity strikes at the eyes/throat if they have a decent chance of hitting.

...I swear, even if you don't intend to, acting like a sadist is the best way to fight in Adventurer Mode. >.>

Right now my adventurer wields a combination of an iron spear in the right hand, and an iron pick in the left.

The spear is a good piercing weapon, so the first strike usually aimed in the lower body, wich is 80% making them sick (aka useless and retching). The spear also often gets stuck in the wound, and somehow when it is the opponent stops dodging (maybe it just seems so, I'm not sure), so I use my pick to do the rest of the job.

I works perfectly.

if you get realy bored, you can outright kill people with just throwing stuff like spears or rocks. i did throw 10 sheilds and 4 spears at a human merc once. took a wile for him to die.

threw a boot at him too. now that was funny.

I like to cause pain by lodging arrows into my enemies.
Then I pull out an arrow and stab them in the head with it.

I enjoy using a spear-dagger combo.

Throw the spear to bring em' to their knees, and then use the dagger to finish them off. Works well for running prey.

Choke the enemy into unconsciousness, then whack on their head with my fists or a weapon.

Generally with enough wrestler skill it's easy.

If enemy cannot be choked, then just wail on him with a weapon, targeting the limbs first so to immobilize it.

I've been amusing myself with whip and shortsword combo these days. IMO it works the best with female characters who also wear chausses and short skirts. :D
