so how do you fight?

i usually grab the opponent's weapon, throw it in his face, break his arm(s), and proceed to kick the crap out of him...
it's not efficient like dismembering people with axe\longswords but quite cool, tought i haven't yet tested it againist something huge like a BC(and i expect to have a lot of Fun when i do it)

Being a dorf, I aim for the knees to bring their neck down to my level, then bite it, or hit it with my axe.

What can I say? I like efficiency.

I wait for them to get close (or rush to the most dangerous (read: ranged) foes), then start hacking limbs off like some psychopathic midget turbine of death and bleeding. Or, if it's a really dangerous enemy, go for an instant kill ASAP. Or maybe just choke them out. Death by strangling tends to give you a lot of agility, and being fast allows you to hack off even more limbs.

I found that the safest way to attack groups of enemies is to first, run around and break everyone's hips or arms, so they can't chase/hit me.

Then I'll go around and spear them in the upper/lower torsos until they are unconscious, and take the easy head-stab. :-)

Throw rocks at them until they die.

If rocks don't work, bring out the +lead barrel+.

Check what hand they are holding the weapon in, and hack it off. Then let my companions deal with the disarmed (dishanded?) foe while I move on to the next target.

I usually play humans because I like being tall.

I use an axe and a halberd, switching off depending on which types of attack are more likely to hit at that moment. Chop of limbs with axe, stab guts and heart with halberd. If both happen to get stuck in the enemy I either just move around them, or if they're already weakened I try to grab the head and punch them in the face.

I always bring a few bowmen or crossbowmen with me, because they help soften up targets without usually killing them, and to protect me from bogeymen. Melee companions steal my kills too much.

With groups of bandits I always go after the ranged fighters first. Missing the credit for killing the commander doesn't matter if I get shot in the head a second later.

When fighting lair creatures, I usually just try to chop them in half at the waist.

Most effective style? Usually to run around callously crippling legs/feet with a pick or whip to immobilize everyone and then taking your time finishing each of them off by strangling them to death to get up to legendary +20 fighting in a few days time.

Most fun style? Probably running around with a battle axe or longsword, charging in like a madman to bowl people over and then lop their heads off in glorious one-shot kills that spray arcs of blood across several meters of battlefield.

I'm mostly an Archer or a Pikemen for the Pikemen I go for stabs to body or head.

If I have a stab option I go for the guts or lungs.
If I have a slash I cut the hands or feet away.
From there on it's just playtime.

If I'm up against multiple enemies, I let them come to me, then start retreating until there's only one in front of me. Then I walk into them so my adventurer randomly attacks me. Retreat again. Repeat until everything is dead.

When I'm just beginning, I tend to take my time with weak foes to increase my skills. Shatter each joint one by one until they fall unconscious, then kick/stab/bash them in the head. With stronger foes, I try to aim for the limbs and debilitate them before finishing them off. When I get stronger it's mostly a one-hit-kill head strike, or rending apart from the lower body if I have a good-enough edged weapon. If there's someone I can't one-hit-kill but I'm skilled enough that they can't hurt me, then I try to inflict mortal wounds. My favorite is to spill their guts and chop them off for fun, slowly backing away as they vomit and bleed to death. For inorganic megabeasts I simply hit them until they break.

My strategy for groups is to dodge the melee combatants while seeking cover from the ranged ones, slowly closing the distance till I'm finally able to kill them. If it's in a no-cover zone like a desert then I blindly run towards them and hope my shield-using skill is high enough. Afterwards I dance around with the melees so that only one is adjacent to me before I strike.
