This started as a casual project, but as my first longhouse was coming together I figured I'd share it. I know I love looking at skillfully crafted Stonesense fortresses, so I figured there are others out there like me!

This is by no means a Let's Play or community fortress, just a place for me to showcase the casual progression of my fort(s). Not that they're anything special, but I do make an effort towards aesthetics. ;)

- REVEREDWALL
(Version 0.31.19 | 127 - present) A small village inspired by viking longhouses. Just about everything is made of wood (Fingers crossed I don't encounter a dragon...) and low-lying. Aesthetics come before functionality! Planned constructions include a coliseum for aspiring warriors to test their mettle, watch towers dotting the map with underground access for marksdorfs and a war hound dispenser by the front gate (for lols).

.

.
..
Okay it' been another year and we have the beginnings of a defense system under construction. The palisade is priority 1 after the last ambush, and our team of seven have diligently defended the fort against a double ambush of 12 goblins (granted, 6 fell to cage traps). They're training in the temporary arena, fueled with the latest catches from our traps.

The woodcutters are definitely less enthusiastic now.

The workshops are surviving without their roofs for now, and they'll probably be that way until the palisade is functional and we've fortified the gates a bit. The Trade Depot has been integrated into the road system and a roof built over it though. Other than these things there hasn't been much else built.

(Oh, and I updated Stonesense. Full map screenshots don't work with this version though, but everything of note has been captured)
Spoiler: Reveredwall, 130 (click to show/hide)

Holy shit, that'll be awesome when it's completed.

Needs more warriors though.

Needs more warriors though.

My current defense strategy consists of sending my one militia and his 20hounds out whilst everyone else hightails into the community hall and locks the doors behind them. xD

I'm not too concerned about ambushes yet to be honest. My wealth's so low that I've only got 13 dorfs so far in three years. Just got the first snatcher as I took that screenshot (can see her leaving in the left-most corner). The low population makes raising a military unfeasible right now though, as I've had 0 idlers since we embarked.

We do have a lot of tetrahedrite though, so I've assigned one dorf to be committed to churning out weapons and armor.

0 IDLERS?!? For that long? Wow, I usually have to deal with lots of idlers for a while and a few after that. Especially miners.

The only thing I can think of is that this could be a community fortress.

Haha, I'm usually the same. The migrant spawn screwed me over though and I only got 14 dorfs in 3 years who were all busy wood chopping, building and the occasional odd job. I'm putting it down to the pitiful wealth I amassed with my only real achievement being the hall.

The only thing I can think of is that this could be a community fortress.

I'd be happy to upload a save, but I don't see much potential for a community fortress just yet with so few dorfs and the large time scale. I'd like to see how far I can go with this theme, too.

EDIT: I don't see why I don't do dorf-me's. Just know you'll more than likely end up chopping/hammering wood year round. ;D

Haha okay, why not. Updates will be fairly sporadic though, so I won't be trying to stick to a seasonal/yearly update. It'll just be whenever anything noteworthy occurs.

Dorfed!
Now get to your forge! >:O
Those goblins will be sending more than snatchers soon...

Are there any fire breathers - besides dragons, titans and forgotten beasts - that I should be worried about? I might build the lower section of our palisade out of stone if that's the case.

Dorf me as the swordsdwarf!

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

And:
Constructions can't be destroyed yet.

So dragons can't burn down your houses. Only your furniture and stuff. Anything made with b-C is undestroyable.
