I desire to be dorfed as Wiglaf when you get any immigrants and will train in the ways of the sword under the tutelage of the great Turkey Slayer. Since having two dedicated swordsdwarfs is a bit redundant give me something to do in my off-time like masonry or the manager's position.

If at all possible, acquire by some means a longsword that Wiglaf can hold in two hands. Humans sometimes carry them, maybe sell them too.

He desires to slay any and all FBs and titans! Especially dragons.

Woot, more migrant! ...25 of the buggers. Some of them are fairly well skilled though, so everyone's been given the position they asked for up to this point. :)

If anyone wants to claim a talented marksdorf speak up! He'll be put in charge of guarding the palisade once it's constructed, with a few other marksdorfs as population allows.

EDIT: Apparently you found a steel breastplate JacenHan. I have literally no idea where that one came from. :o

Okay a few updates now 'cus I feel like it:

I've been working my way down the project list, trying to think about priorities. The dorfs seem content sleeping in the meeting hall so I've pushed the sleeping quarter construction back. I'm getting increasingly worried about sieges, so I want to get the palisade up.

Not much of note has happened. We've had a few caravans come through, and a few "mini sieges" consisting of monkeys or raccoons (also known as play time for the dogs!).

Our new military of 5 managed them quite easily. :)

I've also turned part of the quarry into a temporary battleground to help along the training of weapon skills. A dozen turkeys, three monkeys and two goblins later and I can happily say it's working like a charm!

Everyone's just using bronze and copper short swords at the moment. Kisame and Taricus have been pumping out a few masterwork pieces too - so we're almost fully equipped in a mish-mash of leather and copper. Once the palisade's up we'll be unstoppab-

..Oh.

FOR REVEREDWALL AND GLORY!

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

This is my big moment! Wiglaf will slay the ettin or he shall slay nothing at all in his short short life!

Rushmik is taken by a fey mood!

"Lock the doors behind you Taricus, he's here" Wiglaf barked over the noise of the fleeing crowd. He strode along the kennels, his gleaming sword trailing in the dirt and cutting the leashes of each war hound.
"I was tiring of killing turkeys" Jacenhan said with a grin. There was sewer brew on his breath.
"I'd be excited too if we were not the only two here."
He glanced backwards; no sign of the three recruits. He noticed did Alkhemia watching from the upper platform of the community hall, bronze crossbow propped on the fortifications.
The Ettin's heavy footsteps could be heard trekking up the hill. Wiglaf and JacenHan stood with their backs against the quarry doors, determined to defend the fifty other dwarves behind them. Two dozen war hounds stood at their feet, ears perked.
The Ettin's two head rose over the ridge.
An explosion of barks and snarls filled the air and the pack dashed forward. The Ettin paused for a moment and both heads frowned at what it was seeing.
One hound charged before the rest and leapt high at the beast's face. Teeth met forearm as the Ettin defended, the other dogs quickly following, and the two dwarves not far behind. The Ettin retaliated with a sweep of its left arm, colliding with one of the hounds and sending it sprawling across the meadow. JacenHan roared and swung his sword into the Ettin's upper leg - yet the blow barely penetrated the skin.
Now enraged, the Ettin began tearing the snarling dogs from its body. It seemed it had not yet noticed the two dwarves hacking at its lower body.
As if appearing out of the air, a bone crossbow bolt embedded itself in the Ettin's chest, causing the beast to recoil and stand for a few moments in shock. Its breath became heavy and its movement slow, and Wiglaf siezed the opportunity to drive his sword through the beast's stomach. Another few bolts buzzed through the air from Alkhemia's crossbow, striking the Ettin in the arms and legs and bringing it to its knees.
At this moment Asmel - a new recruit from the most recent migrant party - charged into the fray and slashed at the Ettin's upper leg. A few more swipes brought it to the ground, its heaving chest now still.
Alkhemia's cheers could be heard from the roof, and Wiglaf's face broke into a jagged grin. "Freakin' killstealer" was all JacenHan had to say.

Yep, a late-arriving unnamed dorf was credited the kill! If I had to choose a dwarf to get the credit it would be Alkhemia, as his crossbow bolts chipped and fractured bones whereas the sworddorfs barely made it past the muscle.

None of Reveredwall's citizens were injured, but one of the dogs is pretty hurt. Perhaps it will become the celebratory feast?
