Who was that one guy that tried to improve aviation after World War 2? He basically just tested out the gs pilots experience by strapping himself into a rocket sled. For science, of course.

Wasn't that Murphy (as in Murphy's Law)? Or did he just do something similar?

The guy's name was John Paul Stapp but Murphy was involved in that experiment.

Yup!  He was.  And Murphy's Law (by that specific Murphy) was actually more about interface design.  If you design a thing where there's more than one possible way to do something, someone will do it the wrong way.

ARCHIMEDES, hello.  And screw the Mythbusters result, MIT actually pulled it off successfully.
Objection! the boat they tested it on wasn't even in the water, and therefore has no bearing on whether it would actually work!
Objection to Objection! still applicable to land based warfare.
