Sarvesh Mossbeard's journal28th Limestone, Early Autumn
Since the great famine is over, I feel its time to expand.
I've opened a path to the first cavern. There is plenty of shrooms and webs to be collected nearby. The wood will be used to build more bins, barrels, and bed. The silk will jump-start our cloth industry.
We'll also need proper workshops. At least four workshop for each industry, reserved to our finest craftdwarf. Gonna redo the labor menagement to avoid cross-working.
Finally, we been losing too many dwarves lately. I'm considering some changes.
Most important, a slaughterhouse, to kill goblins before they ever reach us.
29th Limestone
That maze-like cave will make a fine slaughterhouse.
2nd Sandstone
The Baron is throwing a tantrum, because he was locked in his room for so long...
I'm keeping him locked until he calms down.
9th Sandstone.
Why did we not have any kitchens?
How are we supposed to cook those meals?
15th Sandstone
I found a pump stack leading to the caverns.
I believe it was to be an irrigation system for the farms.
Too bad we had no wind. It has to be pumped by hand.
On the other hand, we now have two wells near the sleeping quarters.
So now water will be in abundance.
18th Sandstone
This dwarf is impossible! He keeps throwing tantrum after tantrum.
Why is he mayor? Why is he commanding our armies? Why was he made barony?
Something has to change. But first I need to people behind me...
20th Sandstone
I commissioned the forging of an adamantine armor set, coupled with a battle axe.
My first move will be to appoint a champion.
Took the most competent axedwarf to become our militia commander.
His name is Ragnar Thunderbeard, and he will be an inspiration to our people.
22th Sandstone
We have reports of a new forgotten beast in the depths...
Apparently its a quadruped beast completely made of snow.
It has four stubby horns and it has a gaunt appearance.
I don't know what to make of it. It doesn't sound dangerous. Its just a giant snowdwarf.
1st Timber, Late Autumn
We have disturbed a Giant Cave Spider.
It has webbed and laid eggs into Asmel, our ranger.
I'm sending Thunderbeard in to prove his worth.
3rd Timber, Late Autumn.
Thunderbeard was ecstatic.
He told me the axe cut into the spider's chitin like butter.
We now have a large supply of Giant Spider Silk.
12th Timber, Late Autumn.
We're finishing the slabs room.
The ghosts of the deceased has been put to rest.
Somewhat. We still got one left. He had a strange name.
28th Timber, Late Autumn.
The autumn has passed without any further accident.
I'm giving everyone the engineering labor for a while so we can finish this slaughterhouse. The elections are coming soon. My time will come. Of that I am sure.
Now seems a right time to start the propaganda. I did so much as a bookeeper...
They need to understand I just want what is best for our people.
(one more season then I'm turning in)
