While we're on the subject of locks, wouldn't it be interesting if locking a door required a locksmith to enhance a door with a deadbolt and create a key for that lock. Then whenever you wanted a door locked, a dwarf would have to go pick up the key, then walk over and lock the door. Lock lock lock. Quintuple lock.

A dead bolt is so simple you wouldn't need a locksmith, just a pair of hooks on the door to hold a bar up and a hole in the wall next to the door to slide the bar into. Now if you wanted a more complex lock installed into the door then you might as well go for broke and make it use engineering skill with the various degrees of quality determining how hard it is to pick, and also add a lock picking skill for thieves and possibly adventurers. The quality+material could also be used for strength based checks to force the door open. I'd really like to see this and they will probably be added.... some day.
