Alright, let's do it. Make sure we set it up in major cities too. DC, London, Paris, Istanbul, Shanghai, Tel Aviv, EVERYWHERE.

Best art project ever. Someone needs to do this, glue cloth "spikes," attach some hanging rings, and engrave "+[material] lever+" on it. Then post a note about its function. Whether it drowns kittens, drowns nobles, or drowns goblins.

I propose that we, as a world-wide community, start setting up seemingly random levers in public places, with things like "Kitten Grinder" & Unleash Hell" on them. Thoughts on the concept or more labels?

If you want levers that actually do something, use any of these:

http://www.google.com/products?q=battery+powered+light+switch

I think it's the closest RL equivalent to the Dwarf Fortress levers.

There's something better, if I could remember what they're called, those "THROW THE SWITCH" mad scientist levers that are always connecting the lightening rod to the monster.

Same thing, different look.  I think you can find them in the ThinkGeek catalog, but I might be wrong.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I once found them being sold fairly cheaply in an online "Science Surplus" store. Pretty sure they have a name, and without it I can't seem to find them anywhere. (except possibly thinkgeek. I'll have to check that, thanks for the tip)

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

What you're thinking of is a "Knife Switch"

Very popular amongst the mad scientist set.
