RL Levers

I propose that we, as a world-wide community, start setting up seemingly random levers in public places, with things like "Kitten Grinder" & Unleash Hell" on them. Thoughts on the concept or more labels?

I wish to append the idea that the levers actually do something. Be it related to the label or not.

After all, as fun as it would be to setup sticks in the ground with silly labels next to them, where's the fun if they don't do anything?

They'd have more lasting power if your titles went more to the "obscure and confusing". Kitten Grinder is ok, but I wouldn't expect "Unleash Hell" to last very long at all.

Oooooh. I like it.

Good point. What could a SCIENCE!! lever do?

They shouldn't do anything. But it should feel as if pulling the lever did trip something, or the lever had actual weight.

After all, just because they don't SEE the results doesn't mean they didn't happen, right?

If you want levers that actually do something, use any of these:

I think it's the closest RL equivalent to the Dwarf Fortress levers.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

How hard can making a lever be? My cheese-maker could do that with two pieces of stone.

I vote for "In case of Elves"

There's something better, if I could remember what they're called, those "THROW THE SWITCH" mad scientist levers that are always connecting the lightening rod to the monster.

I want a "Begin Rapture" lever placed next to my local church, just to see how long it would take for someone to try to pull it. It would actually deliver an electric shock to anyone touching it.

Actually.. Maybe a lever that says "unleash plague"?
Then it could open a box and a couple of hundred grasshoppers or some other inert bug could fall out.
That would be something to watch.

Label it "Pandora's Lever" and fill the box with teddy bears.
