Looking at the two posts I made in this thread, it really becomes apperant how much my english has decayed since I started spending time on the internets, I were awesome, now my englis liek suxors.

Also the decay into communism (Twice!) and the founding of the cult of Hollistic Detective.

Not to mention the sheer frequency at which the nobility encountered "unfortunate" accidents. The noble quarters employed an awful lot of floodgates...

Headshoots was seriously insane, I swear.

Don't forget the one part where this guy made an adventurer specifically to hunt down HolisticDetective and only beat her because he managed to get her to fight him underwater.

Dammit, why is it that only SA's managed to come up with bloodline forts of that magnitude? And by magnitude I mean epicness.

It's the mega projects, I think. Most of the insanity comes from either failing the construction of or using one of their mega projects.

The thing is, that should have led directly to a Boatmurdered ending ( 'ALL BURN' ) but it didn't. That was what was so fantastic about Headshoots. They actually rescued themselves from something everyone expected to be the end.

I think part of it is having the right mix of newbies who break things and experts who can salvage them afterwords.

Honestly, it's not that hard to make an untouchable fort, if you know what you are doing, but once you mix in people who don't know (or do and are just in it for the Fun)...

stuff is fun.  :)

It's always good to have people who like sharing their experiences so you get a interesting to read journal with tons of pics to support the story.

I haven't really played DF yet (just tried it out for a bit) because I always feel that I need to study it to really enjoy it and never make myself enough time but I already love it due to the fact that it applies a lot of ideas that I always dreamed for a game. 

LIVE WORLD!!!  The world goes on even if you don't do anything.

LOGS! LOGS! LOGS!!! History is what defines something... experiences... Having that info is a blessing... I remember I enjoyed the Championship Manager series so much due to the fact I could track the career of players... This is SO much more...

This was indeed an epic campaign. Actually taking the time to read it all got me interested in playing this game, just to see how insane it would get in my hands. Plus, it makes me want to join a succession game.

Problem is, I have some time management issues for the time being. So, I can't really commit to a succession fortress just yet.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that, too. I love to read DF succesions, but in the end I always end up only reading the Something Awful Ones. I've tried reading some from here, but always got bored.

Don't know what's the reason. Perhaps the people at SA are simply funnier? When they play DF, you can see they're desperately trying to make it funny - roleplaying awesome characters, building crazy projects, coming up with "accidents". Also, they don't play effectively - and I think effectivity kills fun. When you read a succession here, it tends to be drier, people don't roleplay that much, they usually just play the game normally and write what happened. Boring.

OR it could be the fact that there is always only one DF fort running at the whole SA forums and everyone jumps in, making even the discussion fun to read, creating fan-art, suggesting crazy stuff, etc. Hard to achieve the same thing with a whole subforum dedicated to dozens of forts.


EDIT: Actually, I loved the saga of homicidal Urist. One point for Bay12.

Wow, headshoots was amazing - it really dragged at first, and I was like "eh, getting bored..." but as time went by it just got better and better!

Rooms that can't be found, mazes of twisty passages, clever plans and TRIBUTEs gone awry, walls to seperate the survivors from the madness of the fallen, suicide cults, undead, demons, and immortal godhead leading an undefeatable military force, collosal gravestones that provide the scene for a final epic confrontation before the fort topples into the dust... It was simple beautiful. And its a shame its sitting here mentioned on a later page of a thread about Boatmurdered - I think I'm going to repost this post in a new thread!
