Boatmurdered
« on: February 12, 2008, 05:20:00 pm »

holy shit!  I cant stop laughing!!!  I finally got around to reading the whole thing.  I had read the beginning few chapters but thought it was boring and didnt know why everyone thought it was so great.  I thought, big deal, elephants and miasma.

Hahahahaha....all burn!

The pictures of the insane flaming dwarves, the engravings of death and suffering, the insane riot that ensues following the last lava flow...EPIC!!!  The last survivors, the lobotomized happy child, the lone and defeated warrior Guerilla Burialgears....what a story!  Emperor Sankis the Beardless had to be the coolest one of the bunch...and his son ventured into the great wound in the earth to die by his fathers side....EPIC!!!

Toady should put the saga of boatmurdered in adventure mode in the final release of the game.  Even if you couldnt actually visit the cave, just having the horrible gaping maw mentioned by the inhabitants of the world would be enough.  It is truly a stain upon the collective memory of the DF world that will never be erased, no matter how much they try!

Thus ends the official written history of the fortress known as Boatmurdered. May their tortured souls rest in peace.

Yeah, I really laughed hard when I read it for the first time.  Truly a great story.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.

Words cannot express how much I loved that thread. The name Sankis has become synonymous with DF and firey destruction for me, I always do a doubletake when I see him posting somewhere unrelated...

I think that Boatmurdered represents all that was great about the 2d version. Killer elephants, endless magma floods and insane projects involving too many bridges  :D

Theres only one problem with that link, It doesn't show the amazing fan art that inhabited that thread.

oh btw: what was the last 2d release? I'm messing about with the version used in boatmurdered atm, and find it quite enjoyable. no more "1 lvl down is better than 2 tiles away!"-Runs for the stairs (which are 50tiles away, behind some walls)

That's the one I read as well. Anyone have the original with the drawings?

I'd very much like to read it again with the artwork.
