Aw, I died?  I never got to write a journal (eh, actually, I might still do that).  At the next opportunity, I'd like another dwarf.  Preferably another badass soldier (speardwarf, perhaps?), or perhaps a blacksmith, or even just the next available male dwarf.  Just name him GuudeSpelur again, and maybe pretend they're from the same fortress and that name is common there.

Edit: If you have the time, perhaps you should include a secondary megaproject: some sort of uber-memorial to the fallen.  Put engraved slabs with their names, statues, masterwork carvings if you can cast it from obsidian, etc. in it.

Edit 2: Changed my mind.  Name him "EksulentSpelur."  Another option for profession would be engraver.

I like your memorial idea. I really have no idea if the offshore base will even exist given the nature of DF, but I'll build a memorial on top of it. If the offshore base fails and there's tantrums and doom, I'll make the remaining survivors eke out a pitiful existence building a memorial to the fallen with each forumite getting a Z-level all for themselves.

If you ever get any more migrant waves, dorf me as one of the males who arrive.
It's not like that was the only one Ultimuh in existance, right?

I'll redorf you as a former squadmate who came and assumed your place and role, kinda Cloud Strife-style but minus the bishie.

Oh good idea about the deceased board. Will put it up soon.

EDIT: Taricus may go insane. I can't figure out what the hell he needs for his mood. He's asking for blocks, metal bars, leather and cloth. I have all of those things but he's still asking for them. This is bad. I even made him bronze bars, his preferred metal. Moods are so frustrating sometimes.

DOUBLE EDIT: The pump stack won't deliver power downwards. I don't know how I built it wrong, but this means I'm going to have to take another in-game year or two to disassemble this one and build another one unless I can get some help figuring out if its salvageable. Kinda a blow to my investment in the fort, this mistake.

Possibly Taricus needs wool cloth?

RUNESMITH

I couldn't get Runesmith to work. Taricus went insane. Once again, my humble apologies. I'm going to have to properly honor the dead forumites in-game.

It couldn't have been wool since I'm running .18 here.

My gigantic update will be soon. Once the pump stack is flowing I'll compose it.

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If it helps, your suits of masterfully crafted armor shall live in legend! His memorial is going to involve Taricus' Museum of Modern Warfare, showcasing as many fine pieces of steel goods as I can tastefully arrange in a statue garden.

Atleast I'll help the troops that already wear the armour.

Okay, it's official: Areliton Ador is the chosen battlefield for an all-out war between the Kobolds and the Goblins. I just got twenty-two ambush reports and they're still coming, and its all goblins ambushing kobolds ambushing goblins.

I'm just going to burn the goddamn jungle down if this continues, all these hidden invaders are killing my FPS.

Quick question: just how, er, bad is "motor nerve damage."

Oh god all the pumps I spent the last hour constructing just deconstructed. This project is turning out more annoying than I thought, although I am learning a lot about how machinery works.

EDIT: aaaaaaand the game crashed. Looks like I'll have to redo all that later, out of playing time.

I also had crashes using .21
It is best to save often, or at least eable seasonal saves.

I've got seasonal saves, no probz there, I was just annoyed because I'm close to finishing the pump stack.

EDIT: Salmongod, if you're still reading this, do you want to still be on military duty in spite of some injuries you've sustained? You've got problems with the grip in one of your hands and some other nerve damage, but otherwise seem to be healing up all right. I was going to give you a break, being mayor and all, to relax a bit after a harrowing four-month hospital stay.

I'll stay on duty.  This mayor intends to put on an epic show of dedication to the Rags of Paint.  Just don't put me in the thick of a fight.  Don't send me above-ground to meet the enemy.  Keep me behind some fortifications near the entrance to the fort or something, where I can fire at anything that comes near.  It sounds like I should still be able to handle that.

Did I get mauled by a goblin?

You inexplicably ran into the line of sight of some goblins with no job active while off-duty. I think you wanted some fresh air or something. The depot area was open to the surface at the time and they sniped at you from the ledge above. You took several hits, crawled vomiting in extreme agony all the way to the hospital after collapsing due to pain about seven times and then threw yourself in bed. The nursing staff took months to put you back together again.

I think you've earned your position.

EDIT:

Well guys . . . the pump stack is going to need almost double the power I'm producing now. At my current dragging FPS it could take me a week or more to build a whole 'nother power array on top of the current one. I'm thinking that this fort might be a bust, so I'm going to poll the readers about what I should do next.

A lot has happened in the past three years. I can keep trying to make this pumpstack work or I can change the whole direction of the fort, or I can say adios to Areliton Ador and start up a new fort with that idea I had where forumites petition to be spies and sabotage the work of other forumites.

Vote! I await your opinions!

Have yet to ever build a pump stack myself.  Can manual labor be used to make up for the lack of power?
