I would say revert. This was a bit of a shock. I wouldn't perhaps say revert if it had been goblin attack, but this sort of oversight is probably too much.

Two votes out of seven, sounds like a majority to me. Reverting.

I facepalmed through the wall when this happened, believe me. I DID exile the immigrant who was left on lever duty to starve outdoors for being a traitor, but this was a mistake of god.

Okay, everything's going great now. Will update soon.

This whole event has given me an idea for my next community fort game, though! It'll be in the vein of the Web of Pages, with dorfed characters performing seasonal tasks as requested by each forum user, but with one or two dorfs in the fort being spies who send me PMs with different forms of fort sabotage they're performing. Then, at the end of each year of mayhem, everyone votes on who the spies are and those dorfs are executed/imprisoned/forced to live above ground in a different community.

Don't revert, the fort becomes meaningless if we revert when things goes bad.
If you revert any future progress will be 'fake'.

Continue with the dwarves that you have.
Reorganise their jobs and ensure that they stay alive.
When the next dwarven caravan comes, give them every useless clothes etc and get what you need from them.

Then migrants will come, and the fort can continue its progress toward building the great sea tower.

Don't be an elf, be a man dwarf and continue toward success to the end.

Abandon and reembark is ok
Abandon and restart in the same world is ok.
Reverting does not exists.

Glad you reverted.  The only times I'll savescum are when a bug screws up my game, or I make a really really stupid mistake that ruins everything.  Not a fun way to go.  That community fort idea is pretty neat, btw :)

Well, I've got two saves: one's the apocalyptic one and one's a year pretending nothing happened.

I'll make a poll, how about, to see which one we should go with. I agree with you Val, I really hate reverting, but I didn't want to discourage interest in the fort.

Makes me want to start it already. But Areliton Ador shall be completed first. Two threads at once = too much.

Facepalm apocalypse = no fun.  Catastrophic events should come from in-game circumstances, not a player brain fart.

Yeah thanks for putting the vote on.
I would lose interest if we revert.
However if not reverting would mean losing everyone else interest then please go with what please you the most.

If you end up keeping the real save, please dwarf the next strong dwarf as 'Vanlade the swordsman'.

Until then priorities could be
1- Seal the fortress
2- Build coffins / slabs, bury all the dead
3- Ensure food/drink production continues
4- Make a stockpile next to a trade depot to store all the armors/other stuff that weneed to dump on the cavaran.

I feel like reverting would be the better choice for the narrative.  I think it would be more interesting to preserve the original characters for now- the narrative hasn't gone very far beyond "killed some merchants and goblins," and it would be kind of disappointing if the original 7 died out without doing anything really significant.  If we'd died in a blaze of glory that would inspire the rest to fulfill the ocean-fort dream, then I would vote to keep the save.  However, since it was just a dumb mistake, I'm voting for reverting.

Also, sorry if I haven't been participating very much.  I've been kind of busy lately.  I'll try and start my journals tomorrow night or the night after that.

I'll resume tomorrow. To Valrandir my condolences, poll came out survival save, but I'm not going to revert again after this even if I screw something up. I'll have to play more attentively.
